Celebrating Reading Month
Every year, the Philippines observes Reading Month in November to promote the importance of literacy and lifelong learning. This celebration encourages students, teachers, and communities to embrace reading as a vital part of everyday life.
During Reading Month, schools and local communities organize fun activities such as book fairs, storytelling sessions, reading contests, and book characterization. These events aim to motivate young learners to develop a love for books and improve their reading skills.
In Tumahubong Central Elementary School, Reading Month is also an opportunity to highlight local stories and folklore, fostering a deeper appreciation of Yakan culture and heritage. Making reading more engaging and meaningful.
Promoting reading is essential for building a knowledgeable and empowered community. As we celebrate Reading Month, let us all nurture a habit that opens doors to new worlds, ideas, and opportunities—because reading truly transforms lives. 📚
