Blood Moon: Educational Trivia ππ΄
A Blood Moon happens during a total lunar eclipse when the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon.
The Moon looks red or orange because sunlight passes through the Earthβs atmosphere and bends toward the Moon.
A Blood Moon is safe to watch with your eyes, unlike a solar eclipse.
The red color is similar to the color of sunsets and sunrises on Earth.
A total lunar eclipse can last for about 1 to 2 hours.
Blood Moons do not happen every month because the Moonβs orbit is slightly tilted.
Ancient people sometimes believed a Blood Moon was a sign or omen, but today science explains why it happens.
Did You Know?
The Moon never produces its own lightβit only reflects light from the Sun!
