Sorsogon State University President, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, served as the Commencement Speaker during the ๐๐ญ๐ก ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ฌ of Donsol Community College (DCC) held at the Donsol Centrum for Recreation in Donsol, Sorsogon on May 22, 2026.
Carrying the theme, โ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ด๐ด ๐ฐ๐ง 2026: ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ถ๐ฆ๐ด-๐๐ณ๐ช๐ท๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฌ๐ง๐ฐ๐ณ๐ค๐ฆ, ๐๐ช๐จ๐ช๐ต๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐บ-๐๐ฏ๐ค๐ญ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐๐ช๐ง๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ด,โ the ceremony celebrated the academic achievements, perseverance, and aspirations of the graduating class as they prepare to enter the professional world equipped with competence, integrity, and adaptability in the digital age.
In her inspirational message, Dr. De Jesus encouraged the graduates to remain grounded in values such as humility, excellence, accountability, resilience, and trustworthiness as they pursue their careers and navigate the challenges of the modern world. She emphasized that while technology continues to shape society, strong character, gratitude, and meaningful human connections remain essential to success.
Together with Dr. De Jesus during the ceremony were Hon. Ralph Walter Rivera Lubiano, Mayor of Donsol and BOT Chairperson; Dr. Filipino B. Almiรฑe Jr., JD, Acting College Administrator-DCC; Dr. Lydia Doctor, College Dean-DCC; and Ms. Reea Joy A. Escorsa, College Registrar-DCC, along with local officials, faculty members, parents, and guests who witnessed the momentous occasion.

On May 21, 2026, Sorsogon State University (SorSU), through the Office of Extension & Training Services (OET), headed by Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, OET), spearheaded a Mass Baptism and Confirmation activity for residents of Sitio Quirino, Barangay Buhatan, Sorsogon City, in line with the universityโs outreach and community development initiatives.
The event was attended by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, Hon. Marie Bernadette โDetteโ G. Escudero (1st District Representative, Sorsogon Province), Hon. Mayor Ester E. Hamor (City Mayor, Sorsogon), and Hon. Edwin Divina (Punong Barangay, Barangay Buhatan), who expressed support for continued collaboration in programs and initiatives that benefit the community.
President De Jesus served as the godmother to 17 individuals who received the sacraments of baptism and confirmation. As part of the celebration, she gave each of them cakes as a simple gesture of support and encouragement, making the occasion more meaningful for them and their families. Congresswoman Escudero and City Mayor Hamor also joined in the effort to make the celebration more special for the recipients.

In line with the preparations for the forthcoming 24th Regional Tertiary Schools Press Conference (RTSPC) to be hosted by Sorsogon State University (SorSU), representatives from the Association of Tertiary Schools Publication Advisers of Bicol, Inc. (ATSPAB) and CHED Regional Office V, paid a courtesy call to SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, on May 20, 2026, at the Office of the University President to discuss matters related to the conduct of the regional event.
President De Jesus conveyed the universityโs full support for the 24th Regional Tertiary Schools Press Conference and expressed SorSUโs commitment to ensuring its successful hosting.
The delegation was led by Dr. Jean Salalima-Go (ATSPAB Adviser/Education Supervisor II, CHEDRO V), together with Rafael Oรฑate (ATSPAB President), and other ATSPAB members.

Sorsogon State University (SorSU) reaffirmed its commitment to institutional excellence, accountability, and good governance as SUC President III Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, together with Vice President for Administration and Finance Mr. Gerald E. Fulay, JD, participated in the SUC-IAUs CAPDEV 2026 Executive Briefing held today, May 19, 2026, at the Golden Phoenix Hotel Manila.
Organized by Tarlac State University (TSU) in coordination with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the โCapacity-Building Program for Internal Audit Units (IAUs) of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs)โ aims to strengthen internal audit systems and institutional governance among SUCs nationwide. The initiative supports the realization of CHEDโs ACHIEVE Agenda, particularly on vitalized policies, internal systems and governance, and efficient and effective public service.
The Executive Briefing gathered SUC top executives and internal auditors from across the country to enhance understanding of internal control systems, internal auditing principles, and the mandates of internal audit units in promoting transparency, accountability, and sound institutional performance.
Highlighting the program, Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari, Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), emphasized the vital role of internal control in advancing CHEDโs ACHIEVE Agenda and ensuring effective operations among SUCs.
Meanwhile, Dir. John Aries S. Macaspac, Director of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Central Office, discussed the principles and concepts of internal control, while Ms. Maria Concepcion B. Perez, Chief Budget and Management Specialist of the DBM Central Office, presented the principles and standards of internal control.

The Teacher Education Council (TEC) carried out a two-day on-site evaluation at Sorsogon State University (SorSU) on May 14-15, 2026, as part of the College of Teacher Educationโs application for the Teacher Education-Center of Excellence (COE) designation.
The evaluation focused on validating the documents, programs, and institutional accomplishments submitted by the College of Teacher Education (CoTEd) in support of its COE application.
The program began with welcome remarks from Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus), followed by a message from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, who expressed her appreciation to the TEC evaluators and commended the faculty members and staff of the CoTEd for their dedication and collective efforts throughout the preparation process.
President De Jesus highlighted the collegeโs strong culture of excellence, service, and commitment to quality teacher education. In her message, she said, โI have witnessed the hard work, sacrifices, and discipline of the College of Teacher Education. I have also seen how faculty members and staff spend even their weekends doing extension projects and serving the community. Because of these efforts, the college has consistently been the top-performing college in the university.โ
The activity also included the formal introduction of the TEC Center of Excellence Field Visit Team and the presentation of the evaluation framework and field visit protocols by Dr. Roseller C. Garcia (Team Leader, Evaluation Committee).
Concluding the activity, Dr. Alfonso L. Garcia, Jr. (Dean, College of Teacher Education) described the evaluation as a significant milestone for the college, emphasizing that reaching the assessment stage reflected the collective perseverance and collaboration of the entire CoTEd community. He further shared that the evaluation serves not only as a measure of the collegeโs capabilities but also as an opportunity for growth and improvement through the evaluators' recommendations and guidance. Sorsogon State University (SorSU) welcomed representatives from the Teacher Education Council (TEC) on May 14, 2026, for a field visit to the SorSU College of Teacher Education (CoTEd) in relation to its Center of Excellence (COE) application.
The delegation, led by Dr. Roseller C. Garcia (Team Leader), paid a courtesy call to SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, at the Office of the University President before proceeding with the assessment activities.
Joining the delegation were members of the Center of Excellence Field Visit Team, namely Dr. Danielle Marie Sotto (TWD Tech Support), Dr. Cristeta C. Dulos (Assessor), and Dr. Maria Christina L. Medina (Assessor).
