𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘅, led by 𝗝𝗮𝘇𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝘀𝗶𝘀 – General Manager and 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗼 – Operations Manager, has developed a Natural Insect Repellent that impressed the judges with creativity, a clear revenue model, value addition, and social impact. Their achievement is a shining example of what dedication, teamwork, and innovation can accomplish, inspiring fellow entrepreneurial students to dream big. 🦟🚫

‎On October 29, 2025, at the AMAD 2nd Floor Conference Room, Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office V, San Agustin, Pili, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon State University proudly joined the 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 for the Intercollegiate Component, organized by DA-RFO V – Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD). Out of nine invited State Universities and Colleges, only SorSU and Partido State University (PARSU) took part in this year’s regional competition.

‎Representing SorSU were two strong contingents:
‎🌿 Main Campus: Ms. Pauline Pearl G. Cruz (Coach) and three BS Entrepreneurship students Ella Mae Fajardo, Leona Castillo, and Christine Flores.
‎🌿 Castilla Campus: Coaches Mr. Marlon G. Gabelo, Ms. Rica A. Mirandilla, Ms. Ana May Rubang, and Mr. Al M. Alcantara, with students Kristine Mae D. Equipado, Princess V. Macedonio, Raven Nazer D. Detecio (BS Agribusiness), and Jaycom B. Fortes & Sandra Mae L. Coronado (BS Agriculture, Agricultural Education).

The teams confidently presented their innovative enterprises, “Bamboo Shoot Pickle” and “Green Wise”, showcasing creativity, entrepreneurial skill, and sustainable agribusiness solutions. Their seven-minute pitches followed by panel interactions earned commendations for their well-structured proposals and convincing presentations. 🌾💡

‎The event proved to be an excellent platform for young agri-preneurs to demonstrate their business acumen, teamwork, and commitment to advancing agriculture. The Young Farmers Challenge will reopen in December 2025, giving SorSU teams the opportunity to further enhance their proposals and continue inspiring agricultural innovation.

SEC campus roadshow spurs corporate interest
among SorSU student-entrepreneurs

SORSOGON CITY – More than 240 Business and Management students of Sorsogon State University (SorSU) learned how to transform their business ideas into registered corporations as the Securities and Exchange Commission – Legazpi Extension Office (SEC LEGEO) conducted its SEC Communication, Advocacy, and Network (SEC CAN!) Campus Roadshow at the said university on October 3, 2025.

The activity aimed to equip future entrepreneurs with the fundamentals of corporate registration and responsible business formation, encouraging young innovators to eventually join the country’s growing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the formal economy.

The session featured Atty. Ma. Donna Marcy B. Nicol, Securities Counsel II of SEC LEGEO, who discussed the basics of corporation, highlighting the features and advantages of the One Person Corporation (OPC) and the registration process through the SEC’s Electronic Simplified Processing of Application for Registration of Company (eSPARC) system.

Earlier that day, SEC LEGEO and SorSU formalized their partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by Atty. Norma A. Tan-Olaya, Director of SEC LEGEO, and Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, University President. The collaboration seeks to promote financial literacy and good corporate governance among students, with the campus roadshow serving as one of its initial activities.

In her message, Atty. Tan-Olaya emphasized the importance of introducing corporate education to students at an early stage

“We want to empower our youth to start right — by understanding how to legally establish and grow their business ventures,” she said. “Through the SEC CAN! campaign, we hope to instill not just knowledge, but also confidence in pursuing sustainable enterprises.”

As part of its continuing efforts to strengthen financial and investor education in Bicol, the SEC Legazpi Extension Office also signed a similar MOA with Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) in September and is set to forge another partnership with the Catanduanes State University (CATSU) in the coming months.

The SEC CAN! Campus Roadshow underscores the Commission’s commitment to promoting investor education, financial inclusion, and regulatory awareness among students, fostering a culture of responsible entrepreneurship and supporting the integration of more MSMEs into the formal economy.
