To discuss learnersโ academic progress, school policies, grading system, and other matters concerning their education and well-being as the first term drew to a close, Solano High School (SHS) and Solano Senior High School (SSHS) campuses conducted a Homeroom Parent-Teacher Association (HPTA) meeting on September 18, 2026 at their respective classrooms.
The meeting opened with discussions on studentsโ academic records, including their strengths and areas for improvement, allowing parents and teachers to gain a clearer understanding of learnersโ performance and the support they may need throughout the first term.
Teachers also discussed two significant policy issuances from the Department of Education (DepEd), namely DepEd Order No. 6, s. 2026, or the Guidelines on Ensuring a Safe and Motivating Learning Environment (ESMLE), and DepEd Order No. 40, s. 2012, or the DepEd Child Protection Policy. The policies were presented to help parents and guardians better understand school guidelines and measures for learner protection.
The discussions were followed by an orientation on school policies through the Student Handbook, which covers the schoolโs codes of conduct and discipline.
Among the policies emphasized were the prescribed school uniform and dress code, proper use of identification cards, haircut and grooming standards, attendance and absences, student behavior, class schedules, and the schoolโs no-cellphone policy.
The new grading system was also tackled, including the computation of grades and the subjects and teachers assigned for the second term. Parents were likewise oriented on the academic awardee system and the criteria considered in recognizing studentsโ academic performance.
Following the discussions, report cards were distributed to parents and guardians, marking the completion of the first term. During the distribution, teachers also shared their observations and feedback on studentsโ academic performance and behavior.
Health-related concerns were also discussed, including the upcoming school deworming activity scheduled for September 21โ25, 2026, as part of the schoolโs efforts to promote learnersโ health and overall well-being.
The HPTA meeting served as a bridge for strengthening communication between parents and the school while ensuring that both parties remained informed about studentsโ academic performance, responsibilities, discipline, and welfare.
