Learning and professional growth continued at DepEd Don Valentin Torres Integrated School as the school successfully conducted its fourth School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) Session today, August 20, 2026, through an online platform, despite the suspension of classes due to inclement weather.
The conduct of the SLAC sessions is anchored on DepEd Order No. 35, s. 2016, which institutionalizes the Learning Action Cell as a school-based continuing professional development strategy aimed at strengthening teachersβ professional practice and improving teaching and learning. The policy also recognizes the use of ICT for LAC interactions when face-to-face sessions are difficult to conduct.
With todayβs weather-related class suspension, DVTIS teachers demonstrated adaptability and commitment by shifting the session online, ensuring that professional development activities remain uninterrupted while prioritizing the safety and well-being of personnel.
This initiative also reflects DepEdβs emphasis on learning and service continuity during emergencies, consistent with DepEd Order No. 022, s. 2024, which promotes appropriate alternative modalities and capacity-building initiatives to minimize disruptions caused by hazards and calamities.
With three SLAC sessions now accomplished, DVTIS continues to foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, innovation, and professional excellence - proving that even when classes are suspended, learning among educators never stops.
