Our Mushroom Production Technician is busy completing another productive batch of mushroom fruiting bag inoculations. After pasteurization and cooling, grain spawn is introduced into the fruiting bags, laying the foundation for healthy mycelial growth and abundant mushroom yields.

Whether for research, training, or community extension, LSPU-MRPC is dedicated to growing quality mushroom technologies for all.

HAPPENING NOW: DAY 2 AT IAC10 & AAACU25!

Greetings from Melaka, Malaysia! Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) continues to make significant strides on the international stage as Day 2 of the conference unfolds!

This afternoon, Ms. Charmyne D. Sanglay, Center Director of the Mushroom Research and Production Center (MRPC), successfully presented their research paper:

"University-Led Technological Upgrading of a Mushroom Supply Chain in Laguna, Philippines"

LSPU ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE!

Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) continues to advance research and innovation in agriculture on the global stage!

Ms. Charmyne D. Sanglay, Center Director of the Mushroom Research and Production Center (MRPC), is representing LSPU at the 10th International Agriculture Congress (IAC10), held in conjunction with the 25th Asian Association of Agricultural Colleges & Universities Biennial Conference (AAACU25) from September 8–10, 2026, at Courtyard by Marriott Melaka, Malaysia.

She will be presenting their research study titled: “University-Led Technological Upgrading of a Mushroom Supply Chain in Laguna, Philippines, "Co-authored by: Mario R. Briones, Robert C. Agatep, Marc Sylvester P. Garcia, and Charmyne D. Sanglay.

Day 2 || 2-Day Hands-on Training on Mushroom Production and Processing for OFWs and their Families in Los Baños, Laguna.

Last Friday, September 4, 2026, we wrapped up the final day of our 2-Day Hands-on Training on Mushroom Production and Processing for OFWs and their Families in Los Baños.

Building on the production fundamentals from Day 1, our second day focused on value-adding, processing techniques, and turning harvested mushrooms into viable products.

Here is a recap of our Day 2 activities:
🍄 Processing Insights: A comprehensive lecture by A/Prof. Charmyne V. Sanglay on processing technologies and value-addition methods for mushrooms.
🍄 Hands-on Culinary & Product Development: Participants got hands-on experience converting raw mushrooms into various processed food products alongside A/Prof. Sanglay, Dr. Maribel A. Lucero, and Mr. Joseph Aldrin Cometa Ganibo.
🍄 Product Presentation & Evaluation: Participants showcased their finished mushroom products, followed by an overall training evaluation.
🍄 Closing: Remarks delivered by Ms. Jocelyn L. Alvarado (Migration Focal, PESO Laguna) followed by the formal awarding of certificates to all our dedicated trainees!

A heartfelt congratulations to all our OFW family participants! You are now equipped to start your own sustainable mushroom enterprises.

Day 1 || 2-Day Hands-on Training on Mushroom Production and Processing for OFWs and their Families in Los Baños, Laguna.

Looking back at last Thursday, September 3, 2026, when we officially kicked off Day 1 of our 2-Day Hands-on Training on Mushroom Production and Processing for OFWs and their Families in Los Baños at Brgy. Batong Malake, Los Baños, Laguna.

Organized through the partnership of LSPU - Mushroom Research and Production Center (MRPC), the KA-PIYU Extension Program, and PESO Laguna, this initiative aimed to empower our modern-day heroes and their families with sustainable, community-based agribusiness opportunities.

Here is a recap of what went down during our first day:

August 5, 2026 || A MAJOR MILESTONE: BOR APPROVES INSTITUTIONALIZATION OF THE MUSHROOM RESEARCH AND PRODUCTION CENTER

In a historic leap for sustainable agriculture and regional research, the LSPU Board of Regents (BOR) has officially approved the Institutionalization of the Mushroom Research and Production Center (MRPC).

During the presentation, university officials showcased thriving mushroom fruiting bags and fresh produce to the Board, demonstrating the center's readiness, technological capacity, and potential to drive local economic growth and food security.

With this institutional approval, LSPU strengthens its mandate in instruction, research, extension, and production paving the way for advanced mushroom technology, student training, and community empowerment across Laguna and beyond.
