The Math and Statistics Department successfully held its Orientation Program for students on September 5, 2025, at the Front View Deck, Sindangan Cultural Sports Center, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte.

The activity aimed to welcome new students, refresh continuing students, and build camaraderie among the BS Mathematics and BS Statistics programs. Faculty members gave inspiring messages, reminding students of the value of perseverance, discipline, and teamwork in their academic journey.

Highlights of the event included the introduction of faculty and staff, a presentation of the curriculum and program requirements, and interactive games that helped students connect with one another. Rules and guidelines for the academic year were also shared to help students prepare for their studies.

Students from both programs actively joined the orientation, showing enthusiasm and readiness to face the challenges ahead. As numbers may be small in both BS Math and BS Statistics, the event reminded everyone that success is not about quantity, but about determination, passion, and unity.

The orientation ended with smiles, laughter, and the strong hope that every student will finish the course they have started — stronger and braver together.

Earlier today, May 27, news broke of the unexpected passing of our MSU System President Atty. Basari Dimakuta Mapupuno. Expressions of grief and tributes have poured from across the university system, honoring the legacy of a distinguished and dedicated leader.

Mindanao State University - Main Campus Sindangan Extension (MSU-MCSE), as an extension of MSU Marawi, offers its deepest respect and heartfelt condolences to the President's family, colleagues, and the entire MSU community.

As the MSU System Executive Vice President Dr. Rasid Paca fondly shared during his visit to Sindangan, "Itong Sindangan ay nasa puso ng Presidente natin." These words speaks volumes of the President's commitment in making education more inclusive, reaching students in Zamboanga del Norte and nearby areas through the establishment and support of MSU-MCSE.

Atty. Mapupuno served as the 8th regular President of the MSU System, his legacy will live on every student who walks through our halls.
