LOOK| Successful Conduct of the Data Analysis Seminar-Workshop
In celebration of the 36th National Statistics Month, the Data Analysis Seminar-Workshop held on October 30, 2025, at the Front View Deck, Cultural Center, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte, was successfully conducted.
This event brought together our fellow Ka-Statistika and 4th-year students from various courses of MSU-MCSE to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of data analysis and its vital role in research and decision-making.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Emma P. Obalan and Prof. Najma Pendiaman-Said, for sharing her valuable insights and expertise, and to all participants who contributed to the success of this academic endeavor.
Let us continue to uphold the significance of statistics in fostering innovation, research excellence, and informed action. Truly, it was a day of learning, collaboration, and inspiration for all!

In observance of the 36th National Statistics Month, we cordially invite all Ka-Statistika and interested 4th-year students from all courses of MSU-MCSE to participate in the Data Analysis Seminar-Workshop on October 30, 2025. This event aims to promote statistical awareness and enhance participantsβ competencies in data analysis, interpretation, and evidence-based decision-making.
We are privileged to have Dr. Emma P. Obalan and Prof. Najma Pendiaman-Said as our distinguished resource speakers, who will be sharing their expertise in the fields of statistics and data science.

LOOK | MSU-MCSE Sustains Its Winning Legacy in the 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz Provincial Elimination
In line with the celebration of the 36th National Statistics Month bearing the theme βAccelerating the SDG Pace of Progress: Mobilizing Data for All,β the Mindanao State UniversityβMain Campus Sindangan Extension (MSU-MCSE) once again demonstrated excellence as it triumphed in the 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz Provincial Elimination. The championship title was secured by a talented student from the campus!
Representing the university were Daisy Grace Tequil (BS Statistics), Eva Mae Englis (BS Mathematics), and Samuel Dave Pelone (BS Civil Engineering), all first-year students who showcased remarkable analytical skills and statistical aptitude. Together with the mentorship of Prof Glend Ford Rodriguez and Mr. Jay Marc Leria, the team shined during the event. Ms. Tequilβs victory proudly extends MSU-MCSEβs four-year winning streak since 2022, affirming the universityβs commitment to academic excellence and leadership in the field of statistics.

Behind every chart and figure is a story waiting to be discovered.
As we celebrate this day, together with the 36th National Statistics Month celebration,may we be reminded of the importance of accuracy, integrity, and curiosity in using data. LOOK | On October 13, 2025, the MSU Main Campus Sindangan Extension made a significant appearance at the 26th Student-Faculty Conference on Statistical Sciences, held at the University of the Philippines Los BaΓ±os (UPLB). This annual gathering of statisticians provided a platform for sharing impactful research aimed at accelerating the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Pioneer Bachelor of Science in Statistics graduates Vhal Gregory Fernando and Divine Angel Quisel successfully presented their oral paper during the conference's parallel session, supported by their thesis adviser, Prof. Glend Ford Rodriguez.
The conference was organized collaboratively by the UPLB Institute of Statistics, the UP Diliman School of Statistics, and the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute. The morning session featured a plenary presentation by Prof. Nathaniel C. Bantayan, PhD, the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension of UPLB, alongside Ms. Andreana Gabrielle S. Davide from UP CIFAL Philippines. Their insights set the tone for an engaging day of discussions on how statistical research can contribute to sustainable development.
Following the plenary session, the parallel sessions commenced after lunch, categorized into two main tracks. Parallel Sessions A included themes such as People Pillar I, People Pillar II, and Prosperity and Partnership Pillar, while Parallel Sessions B focused on Prosperity and Peace Pillar, People Pillar III, and Planet Pillar. A special session was also held to honor the legacy of the late Prof. Isidro P. David, PhD, recognizing his contributions to the field of statistics.
Mr. Fernando and Ms. Quisel's participation not only showcased their research capabilities but also underscored the commitment of Mindanao State University to advancing statistical science and its role in achieving meaningful societal impact.

LOOK | From October 1 to 3, 2025, Arvy Honey Pactol, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Statistics from MSU Main Campus Sindangan Extension, participated in the 16th National Convention on Statistics (NCS). This significant event took place at The Manila Hotel in Ermita, Manila, in celebration of the 36th National Statistics Month. With the theme βAccelerating the SDG Pace of Progress: Mobilizing Data for All,β the convention provided a platform for statisticians, researchers, and data enthusiasts to share insights and promote the vital role of data in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs).
During the convention, Ms. Pactol presented her study, reflecting her commitment to advancing statistical knowledge and its practical applications. Her research emphasized the importance of data-driven decision-making in addressing pressing societal issues. Guided by her thesis adviser, Prof. Rey E. Lampawog, she honed her research skills and deepened her understanding of statistical methodologies.
Additionally, her fellow students, Vhal Gregory Fernando and Divine Angel Quisel, showcased their work by qualifying for the poster session, further highlighting the innovative research being conducted at Mindanao State University.
Ms. Pactolβs participation in the NCS underscores the dedication of MSU graduates to contribute meaningfully to the field of statistics and the broader community, reinforcing the significance of data in driving progress toward sustainable development.
