Born on July 5, 1851 in Messina, Italy, he is the 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐕𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬, 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡. He founded two religious congregations: Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus and the Daughters of Divine Zeal. His mission was centered on caring for orphans and the poor, providing education and shelter, encouraging prayer for vocations, and living out charity through action.

St. Hannibal practiced discipline in his life through his daily commitment to prayer and service despite hardship. It was not only about strict routines, but also about faithful perseverance.

May we all be inspired to follow the example of St. Hannibal by living with discipline, compassion, perseverance, and unwavering faith in our everyday lives. Happy Feast Day! 💙🙏

A father to many, a saint to all. This 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, we dedicate this wondrous day to our founding father—𝗦𝘁. 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗶 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮. He was not just a father to the orphans or a saint to the sick; he too was a man of God. A man, who despite knowing the challenges he may face, chose to accept a lifelong mission of serving god.

As such, St. Hannibal chose to begin his mission in 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, where he was a father to orphaned children, educating them, giving them a home, and ultimately giving them a future. He was also a father to the adults, leading the sermons, giving advice, and lighting the way back to the Lord.

Even after his passing, there are those who still prayed for St. Hannibal’s help, in which he answered their call. Proving that even in death, he is still listening and helping those who are in need. And so let this be a jolly day, singing songs, sharing stories of glory, and most of all not just a day of praying for help but also a day of praying for giving thanks.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁. 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆𝗿 🙏✝️

“But in your hearts revere as Christ the Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” — 𝟭 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟯:𝟭𝟱

Today, June 1, 2026, the entire RCian community joins the entire Catholic Church in celebrating the Feast Day of St. Justin Martyr, one of the greatest 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 who bravely used wisdom, philosophy, and writings to defend the faith until his martyrdom.

One of St. Justins primary contribution to Christian history is writing the 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 and 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 (letters directed to the Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius and the Senate) which defended Christians against false accusations of atheism and cannibalism while protesting their unjust persecution.

Because of his intellectual devotion for refusing to sacrifice to pagan gods, he is recognized as the 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀. 🙏

Amidst the chaos, we look to St. Justin as an inspiration to live out our core values of integrity and love of God—reminding us to always stand firm in the truth, foster our intellect, and proclaim the Gospel through our words and actions.

Today's Gospel | June 01, 2026

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Mark (Mark 12:1-12)

Jesus began to speak to the chief priests, the scribes,
and the elders in parables.
"A man planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it,
dug a wine press, and built a tower.
Then he leased it to tenant farmers and left on a journey.
At the proper time he sent a servant to the tenants
to obtain from them some of the produce of the vineyard.
But they seized him, beat him,
and sent him away empty-handed.
Again he sent them another servant.
And that one they beat over the head and treated shamefully.
He sent yet another whom they killed.
So, too, many others; some they beat, others they killed.
He had one other to send, a beloved son.
He sent him to them last of all, thinking, 'They will respect my son.'
But those tenants said to one another, 'This is the heir.
Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.'
So they seized him and killed him,
and threw him out of the vineyard.
What then will the owner of the vineyard do?
He will come, put the tenants to death,
and give the vineyard to others.
Have you not read this Scripture passage:

The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
by the Lord has this been done,
and it is wonderful in our eyes?"

They were seeking to arrest him, but they feared the crowd,
for they realized that he had addressed the parable to them.
So they left him and went away.


Reflection:
The parable that our gospel reading presents today underlines so many beautiful attributes of God. For one, there is the effort on the side of God to reach out to humanity by making his message understandable to everyone. Thus, the use of parable employing elements that are familiar and understandable to the people. The parable itself also highlights God’s patience. His appeal for faithfulness is rejected several times, yet he keeps sending people until he finally decides to send his own son. Who among fathers would send his own beloved son to a risky business? Yet, this is exactly what God does in Jesus his only begotten Son. This shows how precious we are in the eyes of God, worthy to be saved again, and again, and again. However, God’s mercy is also balanced by his justice, so we also have in the parable elements of destruction. As disciples of Jesus, we are called to always be grounded in his teachings and examples, rejecting whatever is opposed to his holy will. Do you see yourself as part of God’s people? What can you do in order to grow more in faithfulness to Jesus’ teachings?

Lord, make my heart seek you and you alone. Amen.

𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗘𝗠𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗧 𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗕𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗗𝗜 𝗙𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗜𝗔 | June 1

St. Hannibal Mary Di Francia was born in Messina, Italy, on July 5, 1851, into an aristocratic family. After losing his father at a very young age, he developed a deep compassion for orphans and the poor. As a youth, he cultivated a profound devotion to the Eucharist and, at seventeen, experienced the “revelation of the Rogate,” realizing that vocations in the Church come through prayer, inspired by Christ’s command: “Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers” (Mt 9:38). This became the central mission of his life.

Ordained a priest in 1878, Hannibal dedicated himself to serving the poor after encountering the suffering conditions of the Avignone district in Messina. He established orphanages under the patronage of St. Anthony of Padua, providing not only material care but also moral, spiritual, and family-centered formation for children. He promoted what he called the “twofold charity” of evangelization and care for the poor.

Believing that prayer for vocations was the key to renewing the Church and saving souls, he founded two religious congregations: the Daughters of Divine Zeal in 1887 and the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus in 1897. He spread devotion to the Rogate through prayer movements, publications, and collaboration with Church leaders, emphasizing that the whole Church should pray for vocations.

St. Hannibal had a deep love for the priesthood and believed holy priests were essential for the salvation of the world. Known for his charity and holiness, he cared for all people in need, including seminarians, struggling priests, and cloistered nuns. He died in Messina on June 1, 1927, widely regarded as a saint by the people.

His religious institutes continue their mission worldwide through vocation ministry, education, orphan care, and charitable works. Pope John Paul II beatified him in 1990, calling him the “authentic forerunner and zealous master of the modern pastoral care for vocations.” On May 16, 2004, he was proclaimed a 'Saint' of the universal Church.

O God, hope of the humble, refuge of the poor and father of orphans, You have chosen St. Hannibal Mary, priest, as an outstanding Apostle of Prayer for Vocations. Through his intercession, send into your harvest worthy laborers of the Gospel, and moved by his same spirit of charity, we may grow in the love of you and of neighbor. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
