Lanterns lit up the sky as Koreans celebrates The Lotus Lantern Festival in honour of Buddha's birth.
People honour Buddha's birthday at different times. Most Asian countries celebrate on the eighth day of the fourth month in the Chinese lunar calendar.
In South Korea, however, the day coincides with the first full moon in May 14 of this year and activities starts at least a week prior.
Koreans often hang lotus shaped or decorated lanterns for several weeks until the festival officially kicks off with lighting of the Jangeumdang, a large lantern that symbolizes Buddhism and Buddha's Birthday.
