PERFORMANCE TASK
Topic: Outdoor Recreation – Common First Aid Injuries

Title of Activity:

“First Aid in Action: Outdoor Emergency Video Demonstration”

Objective:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:

Identify common injuries during outdoor recreation activities.

Demonstrate the proper first aid procedures for specific injuries.

Apply basic emergency response skills using available materials.

Present their knowledge through a creative and informative video presentation.

Task Description:

Students will work in groups of 3–5 members to create a 3–5 minute recorded video demonstrating how to respond to common first aid injuries that may happen during outdoor recreation.

The video must show a realistic scenario, the injury that occurred, and the correct first aid treatment.

Students may record the video in places such as:

Backyard
School ground
Park
Camping area
Any safe outdoor location

Possible Injury Scenarios:

Each group will choose one injury to demonstrate:

Sprain or Strain (ankle injury while hiking)
Minor Cuts or Scratches (while climbing or camping)
Nosebleed during outdoor activity
Heat Exhaustion or Heat Stroke during hiking or trekking
Insect Bite or Sting
Muscle Cramp during sports or running
Fainting due to dehydration or fatigue

Video Requirements:

The video must include the following parts:

1. Introduction (30 seconds)
Introduce the group members
State the type of outdoor activity
Identify the injury scenario

Example:
"Our group will demonstrate first aid for ankle sprain during hiking."

2. Scenario Demonstration (1–2 minutes)
Show how the injury happened
Act out the situation realistically

3. First Aid Demonstration (1–2 minutes)
Demonstrate the correct first aid procedure.

Examples:

Cleaning wounds
Applying bandage
RICE method for sprain (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)
Cooling down for heat exhaustion

4. Explanation (30 seconds – 1 minute)
Explain:
What injury occurred
Why the first aid treatment is correct
Safety reminders

Materials

Students may use:
First aid kit
Bandage / gauze
Cloth or towel
Water bottle
Ice pack or cold compress
Improvised materials

Video Specifications:
Length: 3–5 minutes
Format: MP4 / Phone recorded video
Orientation: Landscape
Clear audio and visuals
All members must appear or participate

Submission:
Students will submit their video through:
Email: [email protected]/Messenger or USB / Flash Drive
Deadline: before Peridical Exam
