The South Manila Educational Consortium (SMEC) recently held its 2026 General Assembly, hosted by the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) at The Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Manila.

A key highlight of the assembly was the announcement of the new SMEC leadership, marking a new chapter in the consortium’s continuing efforts to collaborate and strengthen partnerships among its member institutions. The annual gathering brought together representatives from SMEC member schools to present and discuss the accomplishment reports of various committees, showcasing significant initiatives, activities, and milestones throughout the year.

Through the assembly, SMEC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter-institutional collaboration, advancing professional development, and promoting meaningful partnerships in support of the student affairs and educational community.

The SMEC - Student Affairs Committee held its monthly meeting, graciously hosted by Adamson University.

The gathering provided a valuable opportunity for member institutions to share updates, exchange best practices, and strengthen collaboration in advancing student affairs and services.

A highlight of today’s meeting was the election of the committee’s new set of officers:

Collaboration continues to be at the heart of student affairs.

The South Manila Educational Consortium – Student Affairs Committee (SMEC-SAC) gathered once again for its monthly meeting, hosted by the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. The meeting provided a valuable platform for member institutions to share updates, discuss current initiatives, and learn from one another’s experiences in advancing student development and well-being.

The committee also focused on the latest preparations for the upcoming Student Affairs and Services Congress, ensuring that every detail contributes to a meaningful and enriching experience for student affairs practitioners from across the consortium.

Our sincere appreciation to Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila for hosting this month’s meeting and to our fellow SMEC-SAC members for their continued spirit of collaboration. A productive day of collaboration and planning marked the latest SMEC-SAC Monthly Meeting, hosted by Santa Isabel College.

The gathering focused on refining and finalizing the plans for the upcoming SMEC Student Affairs and Services Summit this September, a landmark initiative that seeks to strengthen the capacity of Student Affairs and Services practitioners in responding to the evolving needs of students and educational communities.

Beyond the preparations for the summit, member schools also shared updates, milestones, and current initiatives, fostering meaningful dialogue and a stronger network of support among Student Affairs professionals.

As the summit draws nearer, the committee remains united in its commitment to not only empower students but also continuously develop the practitioners who guide, mentor, and journey with them every day.

LOOK | The SMEC - Student Affairs Committee Meeting, held today at the Friedenshaus Hotel School of St. Scholastica’s College Manila, focused on the preparations for the upcoming SMEC Student Affairs and Sevices Summit, a new initiative aimed at empowering and capacitating student affairs practitioners from the different member institutions.

The committee recognizes that empowering students also means empowering the people who continuously work behind the scenes to guide, support, and shape student development within their respective institutions.

SMEC-SAC joined in the historic 30th National Conference and Training Workshop of the Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services, Inc., held from April 28–30, 2026, at the Frassati Auditorium, University of Santo Tomas.

Anchored on the theme “PAPSAS @30: Building the Philippine SAS Quality Framework for a Transformative Future,” the conference underscored the vital role of a strong Quality Framework in Student Affairs and Services, affirming that Student Affairs and Services is not merely a support unit, but the very heart and architect of the student experience.

LOOK | Today’s SMEC-SAC monthly meeting served as a meaningful space for reflection and collaboration as member schools came together to evaluate the recently concluded 9th Young Leaders Camp.

Day 3 marked a meaningful conclusion to the 9th Young Leaders Camp.

The day centered on the signing of the 9th YLC Student Leader Pledge, a shared commitment to uphold the values of leadership, integrity, and service beyond the camp. This was followed by the solidarity dance of all the student leaders.

As the camp comes to a close, it leaves behind not just memories but a renewed sense of purpose among delegates, ready to lead, serve, and make a difference in their respective communities.

The 9th Young Leaders Camp comes to a meaningful close, celebrating days of growth, connection, and shared purpose among student leaders.
