Through the initiative of PGEN JOSE MELENCIO C NARTATEZ, JR., Chief, Philippine National Police (CPNP), the Armed Forces and Police Savings and Loans Association, Inc. (AFPSLAI), headed by RADM NICHOLS A. DRIZ, PN (Ret.), President and Chief Executive Officer, donated two (2) garbage trucks to the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA). The donation was formally accepted on behalf of the CPNP by PMGEN MARTIN E DEFENSOR, Director of the Directorate for Logistics, together with PMGEN REDRICO A MARANAN, Director, PNPA, during the Signing of the Deed of Donation with Acceptance and Turnover Ceremony held at the PNPA Heroes Hall, Camp General Mariano N. Castañeda, Silang, Cavite, on August 4, 2026.

This generous contribution marks another milestone in strengthening the Academy's logistics and environmental management capabilities. The additional garbage trucks will significantly enhance the PNPA's solid waste collection and disposal operations, promoting a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable campus environment while supporting the Academy's continuing infrastructure and institutional development under its Swift, Forthright, and Comprehensive Reforms.

The PNPA extends its sincere appreciation to AFPSLAI for this invaluable contribution, as it supports the daily operational capabilities of the Academy in maintaining a clean and green camp.

Silang, Cavite – Demonstrating its enduring commitment to giving back to its Alma Mater, PATNUBAY Class of 1995, in partnership with the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), formally signed the Deed of Donation with Acceptance and inaugurated the Academy's 2nd Smart Classroom at Camp General Mariano N. Castañeda.

Led by PMGEN REDRICO A MARANAN, Director, PNPA, together with PBGEN FRANCISCO B EBREO, Deputy Director, PNPA and Class President of PATNUBAY Class of 1995, the ceremony was also attended by members of PATNUBAY Class of 1995, namely, PBGEN PAUL KENNETH T LUCAS, AD SAF; PBGEN ROLINDO M SUGUILON, D, PNPTS; PBGEN ALFREDO K DANGANI (RET); and PCOL NOEL T DUMALAG (RET). The event highlighted the strong partnership between the Academy and its alumni in advancing quality public safety education. Equipped with modern learning technologies, the Smart Classroom promotes interactive instruction and prepares cadets for the evolving demands of law enforcement and public safety service.

More than the turnover of a facility, the signing of the Deed of Donation with Acceptance reflects PATNUBAY Class of 1995's lasting commitment to shaping future public safety leaders. The blessing and inauguration of the 2nd Smart Classroom further underscore PNPA's pursuit of academic excellence through innovation and meaningful alumni collaboration.

As part of the Swift, Forthright, and Comprehensive Reforms, the Director, Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), PMGEN REDRICO A MARANAN, met with the Non-Academic Instructors for Academic Term 1, Academic Year 2026–2027 during their Courtesy Call on July 31, 2026, at the PNPA Heroes Hall. The activity reaffirmed the vital role of non-academic instructors in developing cadets through practical, skills-based, and values-oriented training aligned with the Academy's strategic direction.

In his message, PMGEN MARANAN emphasized the responsibility of non-academic instructors to prepare cadets to face the challenges beyond the Academy and encouraged them to treat cadets as their own sons and daughters. He also underscored the Doctrine on the Use of Force Continuum, stressing that the use of a firearm is strictly a last resort and that every level of force must follow the appropriate progression based on the circumstances.

The Director further highlighted that tactical operations, police procedures, and the proper use of force are essential in preparing cadets to make sound, lawful, and ethical decisions while safeguarding themselves and others from injury, death, and unnecessary risks. Through initiatives such as this, the PNPA continues to strengthen its commitment to produce highly competent, values-driven, and mission-ready public safety leaders.

The Straight Shooters Gun Club Inc., accredited club of PNPA invites all shooting sports enthusiasts and firearm enthusiasts to participate in 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, which will be held on 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟖, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆), 𝗮𝘁 𝟳:𝟬𝟬 𝗔𝗠 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗡𝗣𝗔 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲, 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗡 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮ñ𝗲𝗱𝗮, 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴, 𝗖𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲.

PNP STATEMENT ON CIRCULATING CLAIMS OF A NATIONWIDE GUN BAN DURING THE FIFTH SONA

The Philippine National Police (PNP) clarifies that no nationwide gun ban has been imposed in connection with the Fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Information circulating online claiming that a nationwide gun ban will be enforced during the SONA is incorrect.

The PNP has not issued any directive imposing a nationwide gun ban for the event. However, existing laws, local ordinances, and established security protocols remain in effect. As part of the security preparations for the SONA, police personnel will strictly enforce restrictions on the carrying of fi****ms and other deadly weapons in designated security areas and other locations where such restrictions are authorized.

The PNP encourages the public to rely only on information released through its official communication channels and to refrain from sharing unverified posts that may cause confusion.

The Philippine National Police remains committed to ensuring the safe, orderly, and peaceful conduct of the Fifth SONA while respecting the rights of the public.

The Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) participated in the 10th General Assembly and Annual Meeting (GAAM) of the Association of Police Training Institutions in Asia (APTA) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from July 22 to 26, 2026, which was attended by PBGEN ROLAND V BULALACAO, Chief of Staff, and PMAJ JAY PAUL A ANDAL, Linkages and Partnership Section (LPS).

The meeting was presided over by APTA Acting President Mr. Kim Ki-Jong and gathered 42 participants, representing 16 member institutions and the APTA Secretariat from 11 countries, to strengthen regional cooperation, promote the exchange of best practices, and advance excellence in police education and training.

Notably, the PNPA was the only institution among the four APTA member institutions from the Philippines to participate in the 10th GAAM, reaffirming the Academy's commitment to fostering international partnerships and adopting global best practices in police training and leadership development.
