Small Steps, Big Confidence
By: Annelyn R. Paltingca

School can feel big and challenging. New lessons can be difficult at first. Small steps help students move forward. Answering one question builds courage. Trying again after mistakes builds strength. That is how confidence grows. Step by step, we become braver. We learn that we can do hard things. Soon, hard things feel possible.

Each day gets better. Students can speak up in class, which was close to impossible before. Students join group activities given by the teacher with eagerness now. Students now have more courage to ask questions when they feel confused. Every small effort really matters. Mistakes are part of learning, not something to be embarrassed about. Small steps lead to big confidence. That is how we grow stronger. When we practice, we believe in ourselves and that we can do it and can face any challenge.

A Father’s Sacrifice

By: Jessa Fundador

At every early dawn, he is the first to wake up in the dark with his hot coffee. The house is still quiet, but his mind is already full of worries and plans. Even when he is tired and hungry, he never gives up on the dreams you carry. He never complains, even when he gets soaked in the rain, even when his body aches from work, as long as he comes home with rice and hope. Hope that someday, his child will graduate with honor and have a life easier than his.

His rough hands built your future. His hard work provided for your needs. He does not know how to say sweet words, but in everything he does, you can see his love. In the packed lunch he prepares. In the shoes he buys even when he has none for himself. In every overtime. In every debt. In every simple, “Go on, child. Do your best.” These are the words that kept you going when you wanted to quit.

So, child, when you stumble and feel tired along the way, remember the shoulders that carried all of your needs. Remember the nights he stayed awake worrying about you. A father’s sacrifice does not ask for anything in return. His only wish is for you to keep fighting, to finish your studies, and to never forget him.

Students Should Not Live in Fear at School
By: Larielyn Bedro

School should be the safest place for students, not a place to be afraid. When news about killing spreads, it steals the peace of mind that every learner deserves.

No students can focus on learning if they are constantly looking over their shoulder. Fear can affect students’ attendance, mental health, and academic performance. School killings is just not a security problem, but a community problem. Problem for students, teachers, their family, and the whole community. It shows the need of anti-bullying program, well communication between students, parents, and teachers. Lastly, proper security duty. Students should know what to do when the danger is near.

Every child has the right to go to school without fearing for their life. A classroom should be a space for dreams and growth—not for survival.

Pangarap

By: Jolandmie Tutor

Kahit kami’y mahirap,
Ako’y patuloy na nagsusumikap.

Sa bawat hakbang ng buhay,
Nagpatuloy upang maging matiwasay.
Sa bawat patak ng pawis, luha at pagod,
Magpapatuloy at hindi mapapagod.

Bullying
Words can hurt. Words can also heal.
By: Shaila Mae But-ay

Bullying is a common problem among people, particularly students. It happens when someone repeatedly hurts, scares, or makes fun of another person. It can be physical, verbal, or social. When it happens on social media, it is called cyberbullying. Bullying can happen at home, in society, or at school through disrespectful words, posts, comments, and messages. People may be bullied because of how they speak, their culture, skin color, hair, body, or financial situation. These can affect their feelings, confidence, and mental health. Sometimes, words are more hurtful than physical actions. Words are powerful; they can either build someone up or tear them down.

Stop trying to fulfill other people's expectations. Be yourself and focus on your dreams for the future instead of listening to others' words. Being different may sometimes make you feel alone, but it builds your sincerity, decisions, and strength to chase your dreams despite discrimination. You have your own flaws. Being different means you are rare in many ways.
