Sarrat National High School successfully held its GAD Kick-Off Program earlier today in celebration of National Women’s Month 2026. 💜

Anchored on the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” and the sub-theme “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, the program began with an energetic GAD Wellness Zumba Session led by Mrs. Kim April C. Pasamonte, JHS Teacher III, promoting wellness and camaraderie among participants. This was followed by an inspiring Women in Leadership: Empowering Voices Talk delivered by Mrs. Jonalyn Estoesta, JHS Teacher III, highlighting the importance of women’s leadership and empowerment.

An uplifting Inspirational Leadership Message on Advancing Gender Equality was shared by Dr. Dennis Christopher C. Salvador, School Principal IV, encouraging everyone to continue championing inclusivity and equal opportunities. Meanwhile, Mr. Joe Allan Mark Tumamao, GAD Coordinator, presented the GAD Advocacy and National Women’s Month reminders, reinforcing the school’s commitment to promoting gender equality in the school community.

The program concluded with the Purple Pride Photo Opportunity, uniting employees and students in support of a more inclusive and empowered society. 💜✨

Tomorrow marks the GAD Kick-Off Program of Sarrat National High School in celebration of National Women’s Month 2026 with the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” and sub-theme “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!” 💜

Sarrat National High School Hosts GAD Benchmarking Visit from Banban NHS and Ilocos Norte College of Arts & Trades (INCAT)

SARRAT, Ilocos Norte — In a notable effort to promote gender-responsive education, Sarrat National High School welcomed GAD Focal Persons and Coordinators from Banban National High School and Ilocos Norte College of Arts and Trades (INCAT) for a benchmarking activity on the best practices in Gender and Development (GAD).

The activity provided an opportunity for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and the exchange of strategies for effective GAD implementation.

Leading the hosting team were School GAD Coordinators Mr. Joe Allan Mark Tumamao and Dr. Agnes C. Calilao, together with Head Teacher III (AP) Ma’am Shirley Ganotisi and Administrative Officer IV Ma’am Ma. Filomena T. Caldito. The benchmarking activity was guided under the active leadership of OIC School Head Sir Edmund T. Respicio.

The visit underscores the commitment of both the host and visiting schools to strengthen gender-responsive programs and build inclusive educational communities across Ilocos Norte.

These prestigious recognitions reflect the school’s unwavering dedication to promoting gender equality, inclusivity, and empowerment within its community. 💜

The awards were received by Mr. Joe Allan Mark G. Tumamao, one of the School GAD Coordinators, together with Mr. Edmund T. Respicio, OIC Office of the School Head. Sarrat National High School has once again brought pride and honor to SDO Ilocos Norte as it garnered 3rd Place in the Mega Secondary School Category of the 2025 Gawad Silang: Search for Outstanding School Gender and Development (GAD) Implementers, conferred during the Araw ng Parangal of DepEd Region I on October 3, 2025, at the National Educators Academy of the Philippines – Region I (NEAP-RI), San Vicente, City of San Fernando, La Union.

This prestigious recognition highlights the school’s exemplary efforts in bridging home and school as equal partners in the promotion of gender sensitivity, equality, and spiritual development. Through its holistic and transformative GAD initiatives, Sarrat NHS has successfully created meaningful programs that nurture faith, respect, compassion, and equality, ensuring a lasting impact on empowering both families and educators to raise learners in a safe, inclusive, and values-driven environment. Lakbay-Aral 2025 ✨

Our journey took us to one of the Most Outstanding Schools in Gender and Development, Paratong Integrated School. We proudly awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to their School Principal/District Supervisor, Dr. Genny Haboc Alay-ay, for warmly welcoming us.

At the same time, we also extended our gratitude to Dr. Jane Meryl Dalde and Ms. Mabie Gail James, our dedicated facilitators and tourist guides for this year’s Lakbay-Aral. 🙌

The awarding was led by our very own School Principal IV, Dr. Marietta B. Yap, together with Mr. Joe Allan Mark Tumamao, Dr. Agnes Calilao, and Mrs. Karence Bueno as School GAD Coordinators and FPS with the department heads and the whole Sarrat NHS family.
