JUST IN | Bayle paints redemption, bags regional silver

SAGPATAN’S young artist turned last year’s setback into this year’s triumph.

Arneiah Athena M. Bayle of Sagpatan Elementary School clinched Second Place in the 2026 Regional World Food Day On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest held at the Department of Agriculture Regional Office I, San Fernando City, La Union, September 23.

Now a Grade 6 learner, Bayle returned to the same competition after joining as a Grade 5 pupil last year, when she fell short of a podium finish.

Instead of allowing the setback to end her campaign, Bayle came back with renewed determination, transforming disappointment into a regional victory in her final year of eligibility.

Before advancing to the regional stage, Bayle emerged Champion in the Division Elimination, earning the right to carry the banner of Ilocos Norte in the regional tilt.

Guiding Bayle throughout her journey was her coach, Mr. Arlan F. Llanes, whose mentorship and preparation helped sharpen the young artist’s skills and confidence for the competition. Her campaign was likewise supported by Mrs. Nancy T. Lagutan, School Head, and Dr. Ruby B. Pascua, Public Schools District Supervisor, whose encouragement strengthened Sagpatan Elementary School’s pursuit of excellence beyond the classroom.

Her second-place finish completed a remarkable turnaround for the young artist, who had only one more chance to compete under the contest guidelines limiting participation to Grade 5 and Grade 6 learners.

From an empty-handed first attempt to a regional podium finish, Bayle proved that a setback can become a stroke toward success.

For Sagpatan Elementary School, her silver finish is more than an award. It is a portrait of persistence, painted one comeback at a time.

In recognition of her remarkable achievement, Bayle received a Certificate of Recognition and a cash prize of ₱3,000.00, a fitting reward for the talent, dedication, and determination she brought to the regional stage.

JUST IN | Sagpatan Elementary School stamped its mark on the 2026 Division Science Fiesta as its young Science Ascenders delivered an impressive performance, led by Jan Reign D. Baluan, who clinched the Championship in Science and Technology Writing (English) at Cadaratan National High School, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte. Adding to the school's triumph, Princess Jane Mauricio secured 5th Place in Science and Technology Writing (Filipino), while Sofia Chloe D. Obsania showcased exceptional creativity and storytelling skills in the highly competitive Sci Snap contest, proving that Sagpatan ES continues to nurture young minds capable of excelling in science communication and innovation.

These remarkable achievements reflect not only the learners' talent and determination but also the collective effort of those who guided them along the way. The unwavering support of the SES family, parents, and stakeholders, laid the foundation for every success earned. Special recognition is likewise extended to Mr. Francis A. ROARS met SCREECHES.

Rivals stood their ground, and the spirit of competition burned brighter than ever as the Red Tigers and Blue Eagles stormed the courts, tracks, and playing fields in an epic showdown during Sagpatan Elementary School's Intramural Meet 2026, proving that true champions unite, compete, excel.

Sagpatan Elementary School came alive with excitement, determination, and school pride as the much-awaited Intramural Meet 2026 officially opened the gates to an unforgettable clash between the formidable Red Tigers and Blue Eagles, where athletes, coaches, teachers, and parents witnessed days filled with thrilling contests, remarkable displays of talent, and inspiring acts of sportsmanship.

The battle for supremacy unfolded across various sporting events, including badminton, basketball, volleyball, athletics, sepak takraw and chess. Every point, every rally, every sprint, and every strategic move reflected the dedication and competitive spirit of the participants. Basketball courts erupted with fast breaks and clutch shots, volleyball games showcased teamwork and grit, badminton players dazzled with lightning-fast exchanges, athletes conquered the track and field with speed and endurance, kickers bombarded the sepak takraw court with arsenal of kicks and headings, while chess masters engaged in intense battles of wit and strategy.

In line with the Schools Division Office of Ilocos Norte's Fortified Key Initiative No. 4, Operational Sports Program through Active Sports Clubbing, this endeavor reinforced the commitment to promoting holistic learner development through active participation in sports and recreational activities.

More than a venue for competition, the Intramural Meet served as a platform for nurturing physical fitness, leadership, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among learners while strengthening the culture of active engagement within the school community.

Beyond the competitive arena, laughter and camaraderie took center stage during the exciting traditional Filipino games. The crowd roared with delight as participants tested their agility and determination in the Sack Race and Breaking the Pot (Palayok) competitions. What made these events even more memorable was the participation of not only the learners but also the teachers and parents, who eagerly joined their respective editions of the games. Their involvement transformed the event into a true celebration of family, community, and togetherness.

As the Red Tigers and Blue Eagles fiercely competed for victory, they also embodied the values that define every true athlete: discipline, respect, perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Each challenge, whether won or lost, became an opportunity for growth, learning, and character-building.

More than a contest between two teams, Intramural Meet 2026 was a celebration of unity and excellence. It strengthened friendships, fostered school spirit, and reminded everyone that while trophies may recognize champions, it is participation, resilience, and camaraderie that create lasting victories.

Indeed, when the final whistle blew and the dust settled, both the Red Tigers and Blue Eagles emerged as winners, not only in competition but in demonstrating what it truly means to unite, compete, and excel.

From a championship breakthrough to a national gold triumph, Sagpatan Elementary School once again proves that innovation knows no limits!

Congratulations to Sofia Chloe D. Obsania, Hannah Faith D. Manansala, and Ameiah Magdaleign O. Tamayo for being honored with the National Group Gold Award at the SIRIB AWARDS 2026, held on August 11, 2026 at the Centennial Arena, Laoag City.

This prestigious recognition crowns their remarkable journey after emerging as Champion in the Science Investigatory Project (Physical Science - Group Category) during the 2025 National Science Quest. Their achievement reflects not only academic excellence but also the creativity, determination, and passion for scientific discovery that define true young innovators.

This success would not have been possible without the steadfast guidance of their dedicated coaches, Mr. Roland R. Tuliao and Mrs. Cristina Cristobal C. Mateo, whose commitment to nurturing research excellence has empowered our learners to reach greater heights. We likewise extend our heartfelt appreciation to our school head, Mrs. Nancy T.
