LOOK:|| Red Cross Youth Council attends Project SeaSow 🇵🇭

On July 26, 2026 (1:12 PM – 5:30 PM), the Red Cross Youth Council (RCYC) proudly joined fellow student leadership organizations for the "Project SeaSow: Where Land and Sea Move in Balance for a Secure Nation" seminar held at the Banahaw Lounge, Camp Gen. Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City, Quezon Province.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Rey Oliver Villota, Project Head of Project SeaSow, for extending the invitation and gathering student leaders to tackle the critical connection between national security, environmental preservation, and national food sustainability.

Highlights:

🇵🇭 National Security & Sovereign Rights | A representative from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) discussed the ongoing situation in the West Philippine Sea (WPS). The presentation emphasized that based on national and international laws, the WPS rightfully belongs to the Philippines, underscoring the defense of our sovereignty as the bedrock of national security.

🐟 National Food Safety of the Sea | Focused on empowering local fisherfolk and safeguarding marine ecosystems, this module outlined essential "do’s and don’ts" for the community. It highlighted the importance of supporting our fishermen and protecting our oceans, our primary source of food and coastal livelihood against overexploitation and pollution.

🌾 National Food Safety of the Land | Centered on the agricultural sector, this session tackled trending issues like Pax Silica and stressed the urgent need to protect agricultural lands. The speaker reminded everyone to honor our farmers, pointing out that without them, no individual, regardless of social status or profession, would have access to clean, safe, and nutritious food.

In addition to these impactful sessions, participants enjoyed engaging Icebreakers, an official Photo Opportunity with speakers and Mr. Rey Oliver Villota, and the Commitment Wall, where RCYC student leaders pinned sticky notes pledging their commitment to protecting our land and seas for a secure and balanced nation.

Our Red Cross Youth Council (RCYC) officially started a brand new chapter!
Today, June 19, 2026, at 3:00 PM, the RCYC family gathered at the Grade 12 HE Room of Pili National High School for a day full of big updates, exciting plans, and a lot of inspiration.

It was started by listening to the Red Cross Hymn and reviewing the core principles of the Red Cross. Here is a quick look at what we talked about:
✨ Duties & Responsibilities: Clearly defining roles so we can work smoothly as one team.
👕 Design Our New Polo Shirt! We are planning to change our official polo shirt layout, and every single RCYC member can submit their own design suggestion!
🏆 Upcoming Events: Planning ahead for big school events where our volunteers will be active and ready to help.

Quizon (Secretary), Alexa Mae Parungao (Treasurer), Sheina Toroctocan (Auditor), Jiane Nathan Jimenez (P.I.O), Dharene Mendoza (P.O), Aubrey Yhen Reynaldo (G7 Rep), Cedrick Reynoso (G8 Rep), Precious Angel Aceah Mellindrez (G9 Rep), John Nathan Amante (G10 Rep), Praise Idea (G11 Rep), and Chrichelle Javier (G12 Rep).

Our former president, Jackielyn Canela, also shared some great advice and wished everyone good luck, followed by the giving of Certificates of Appreciation to our hardworking past leaders to thank them for their amazing service.
We wrapped up the day proudly singing the Red Cross Song. Let’s give a big round of applause to both teams! Good luck to our new leaders, and thank you to everyone who joined us. Let’s make this an amazing year, RCYC! ❤️

The Officers thank their Adviser, Ms. Judy Ann Salubong, for her guidance, patience, and for teaching them that leadership means service. They also thank their Principal, Mrs. Maribel M. Alcantara for her trust and support, which made every RCYC project possible.
