Wearing the colors of St. Francis High School with pride, Jairus Galvez carries a story built on dedication, determination, and a dream that continues to drive him forward. His passion for basketball has taken him through challenges, opportunities, and milestones that continue to shape him as an athlete.
Galvez discovered his love for basketball at a young age, inspired by his dream of becoming a professional player and by watching his older brothers excel on the court. At 13 years old, he took his first step toward achieving that dream by joining a week-long basketball clinic led by Coach Billy Castro and Coach Sonny Arapol, where his talent and dedication immediately caught the attention of his mentors.
His journey was not easy. After facing setbacks in his attempts to enter other schools as a student-athlete, Galvez found an opportunity at St. Francis High School, where he earned a place on the school’s varsity basketball team. Under the guidance of Coach Billy, he continued to develop his skills through consistent training and participation in various basketball leagues.
Through hard work and determination, Galvez helped the SFHS basketball team reach several championship games in different tournaments. His dedication and continuous improvement earned him the opportunity to compete in the Sinag Liga Asya (SLA), an international basketball tournament held in Cebu City.
After his experience in SLA, another opportunity came his way when Coach Billy encouraged Galvez to try out for Chiang Kai Shek College in Manila. His hard work, skills, and continuous improvement impressed the coaching staff, earning him a place in the school’s basketball program.
Galvez expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the people who supported and guided him throughout his basketball journey, stating,

As Jairus Galvez begins a new chapter at Chiang Kai Shek College, the experiences, lessons, and support he gained throughout his basketball journey continue to shape him as an athlete. His dedication and perseverance reflect the values he developed as an Assisian as he continues to strive for growth and excellence.
