MABILA, SARANGANI — Mabila Central Elementary School (MCES) officially kicked off the observance of National School Safety Week 2026 on October 12, 2026, during its flag ceremony, bringing together school stakeholders and representatives from various government agencies to strengthen awareness and promote a safe, secure, and child-friendly learning environment.

The week-long observance, scheduled from October 12 to 16, 2026, is conducted in accordance with DepEd Order No. 006, s. 2026, and in coordination with the Municipality of Sarangani under the leadership of Honorable Mayor Adelan B. De Arce. This collaborative initiative highlights the shared commitment of the local government, the education sector, and community partners to safeguard learners and ensure their well-being inside and outside the school premises.

The activity was attended by SFO2 Oliver J. Flordeliza, BFP–Sarangani Municipal Fire Marshal; PCApT. Harvey Sultan, Chief of Police of Sarangani Municipal Police Station with PLT Panibon and PSMS Samson L. Obeso; PEMS John Marvin Manaog, Pat Hername, Pat Joshua Arang from Maritime; Dr. Sue Zeit Espectato; FO1 Elvin Tagalog of the Bureau of Fire Protection; Roldan Lagsican, representing the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) Office; and Art Vincent O. Daligdig, MCES PTA President. Also taking part in the activity was Editha O. Luarez, MCES School Head, together with teachers, parents, learners, and other school and community stakeholders.

During the kickoff program, the representatives of the different agencies and stakeholders, along with SMCES chool Head Editha O. Luarez, shared valuable insights and reminders with learners, parents, and teachers about the importance of school safety. Their inputs emphasized the need for preparedness, vigilance, discipline, and cooperation in preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, and addressing potential threats to the school
community.

The participating agencies also underscored the importance of working together to promote disaster preparedness, fire safety, peace and order, child protection, and the overall welfare of learners. Through their shared expertise and guidance, the activity helped strengthen the awareness of the school community regarding its vital role in maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.

The kickoff ceremony served as a meaningful reminder that ensuring school safety is a shared responsibility. It requires the active participation of school personnel, parents, learners, government agencies, and the local government to create a protective environment where children can learn without fear and pursue their education with confidence.

As Mabila Central Elementary School joins the nationwide observance of National School Safety Week 2026, it reaffirms its commitment to building a school community grounded in preparedness, cooperation, and care for every learner, with the continued support of the Municipality of Sarangani and its partner agencies.

🏫🇵🇭 NATIONAL SCHOOL SAFETY WEEK 2026 | AOSNHS

Alberto Olarte Sr. National High School proudly participated in the observance of National School Safety Week 2026, reaffirming its commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and caring learning environment for all learners.

Through flag-raising ceremonies, Classroom Safety Lessons, the observance of the Buddy System, and the signing of the School Safety Commitment Wall, the school promoted safety awareness, learners’ rights and responsibilities, bullying prevention, and preparedness. The Buddy System was observed to encourage learners to look out for one another and strengthen cooperation and mutual support within the school community. 💙🛡️

The signing of the School Safety Commitment Wall was made more meaningful through the participation of our valued stakeholders, including representatives from DSWD, MLGOO, BFP, MLET, SOU, PNP, the Philippine Army, barangay officials and health workers, parents and guardians, and other community partners. Their involvement demonstrates a shared commitment to protecting learners and promoting a culture of safety and responsibility.

With a focus on strengthening learning delivery and ensuring that programs achieve their intended outcomes, the division conducted a four-day monitoring activity on the implementation of the ARAL Program, Reading, Early Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (ELLN), and MAPEH across schools in Sarangani District on October 6–9, 2026.

The team was led by Dr. Almer T. Davis, Division Reading and ELLN Focal Person, together with Lindley C. Emia, Education Program Supervisor, and Dr. Silvano M. Camillo Jr., Public Schools District Supervisor.

Beyond checking program implementation, the monitoring served as an avenue for professional dialogue, allowing school personnel to receive guidance, share practices, identify areas for improvement, and strengthen strategies aimed at addressing learners’ needs.

Teachers and school heads expressed their appreciation to the monitoring team for its valuable guidance, constructive feedback, and technical support, which they said further encouraged them to continuously improve their programs and services.

The four-day activity underscored a shared commitment across the district: stronger implementation, responsive support, and better learning opportunities for every learner.

For 22 remarkable years in the teaching profession, Teacher Rubelyn “Bheng” Basilan has devoted her life to nurturing young minds, inspiring learners, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of the children she serves.

Her journey as an educator is more than just a record of years in service—it is a story of commitment, patience, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Through the years, Teacher Bheng has witnessed generations of learners grow, learn, and pursue their dreams. In every classroom she has handled, she has shared not only knowledge but also values, encouragement, and hope.

Teaching is never an easy profession. It requires countless hours of preparation, patience in facing challenges, and a heart that understands every learner has a different story and pace of learning. For 22 years, Teacher Bheng has embraced these challenges with perseverance and a genuine love for teaching. She has continuously found ways to make learning meaningful, engaging, and relevant to her pupils.

As an educator, she has become more than a teacher. She has been a mentor, a role model, a listener, and a second mother to many of her learners. Her dedication can be seen in the little things—guiding a child who struggles to learn, encouraging a hesitant learner to believe in oneself, celebrating small victories, and patiently helping pupils discover their potential.

Her 22 years of service also reflect her commitment to the school community. She has worked alongside fellow teachers, parents, school leaders, and community members, understanding that educating a child is a shared responsibility. Through teamwork and cooperation, she continues to contribute to building a learning environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired.

Teacher Bheng's journey is a beautiful reminder that the impact of a teacher cannot always be measured by awards or accomplishments. Sometimes, it can be found in the lives of former pupils who remember the teacher who believed in them, the lessons that stayed with them, and the kindness they experienced inside the classroom.
