SARA NHS Honors Educators in Vibrant Teachers’ Day Tribute

Sara, Iloilo — The campus burst into a celebration of music, gifts, and gratitude as Sara National High School (SNHS) marked National Teachers’ Day on October 5, 2026, at the School Gymnasium, honoring the dedicated faculty and staff who guide the school community every day.

Organized by the Teacher and Staff Association (TASA), the half-day program featured a raffle draw, games, and heartfelt tributes from Dr. Gezette B. Almanzor, assistant school head designate; Sir Jun Victor F. Bactan, principal IV; Municipal Mayor Jon N. Aying; and Dr. Ruby Therese P. Almencion, CESO VI, OIC-Schools Division Superintendent, Schools Division of Iloilo.

"Teachers do far more than deliver daily lessons, kabay pa nga indi ninyo malimtan kun diin kamo nagsugod,” Dr. Almencion said during her message.

Teachers and Staff Association Spearheads 2026 National Teachers’ Month Opening Salvo

The Teachers and Staff Association (TASA) spearheaded the 2026 National Teachers’ Month Opening Salvo on September 7, 2026, gathering faculty and staff at the vibrant Sara NHS Gymnasium for a morning of reflection, recognition, and community bonding.

The program commenced with a solemn prayer led by Ma’am Janet C. Borantes, TASA Assistant Secretary, setting a grateful and reflective tone for the festivities. Ma’am Josie Salvie A. Perez, TASA President, followed with her welcoming remarks, acknowledging the relentless dedication and hard work of the school’s educators.

One of the morning’s most touching highlights was the message delivered by Sir Jun Victor F. Bactan, School Principal IV. What began as a traditional address evolved into a deeply emotional moment when he invited the teachers to close their eyes, pause, and reflect on their personal journeys in the profession. He challenged them to look beyond their daily academic responsibilities and recognize the profound impact they have made by quietly transforming countless students’ lives.

Continuing the program, Sir Bactan administered the official oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected TASA officers for the 2026–2028 term, charging them with servant leadership and unwavering dedication to their fellow educators.

The celebration also served as a platform to honor faculty achievements and institutional loyalty. Sir Ruperto D. Sayson II, TASA Vice President, led the formal recognition of teachers who have attained advanced Master’s and Doctorate degrees.

Following this, Ma’am Cristelyn M. Sarvento, ADAS III, presented the Teachers’ Loyalty and Milestone Awards, celebrating years of steadfast service to Sara NHS. Teachers who had completed 10, 15, 25, and 30 years of service received their respective Loyalty Pay.

Demonstrating TASA’s broader commitment to student development, TASA Treasurer Ma’am Decy Marie Elchico turned over the association’s ₱5,000 cash assistance to the student-athletes competing in the 5th CDSA Meet.

Furthermore, Ma'am Caren S. Pactao, an SNHS Alumna, sponsored ice cream for everyone.

The formal program concluded with thoughtful closing remarks from Ma’am Gezette B. Almanzor, Assistant School Head Designate, who expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the opening salvo's success.

The celebration ended on a sweet note, with an ice cream treat prepared for all the teachers to enjoy.

Sara NHS Joins Nationwide Simultaneous School Safety Drill

Sara, Iloilo — Sara National High School (SNHS) joined the National Simultaneous School Safety Drill (NSSSD), focusing on simulated attack incidents to strengthen campus security and emergency preparedness.

The Department of Education (DepEd), in partnership with Local Government Units (LGUs), the Philippine National Police (PNP), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Sara Rural Health Unit (RHU), spearheaded the drill to ensure schools are equipped to respond to potential threats such as intrusions or armed assaults.

During the drill, learners practiced lockdown procedures, safe evacuation routes, and emergency response protocols. Teachers coordinated with security personnel to manage crowd control and maintain order.

The Officials clarified that the NSSSD is not intended to instill fear but to build confidence among the school community, highlighting the importance of rehearsing safety measures before real incidents occur.

The activity concluded with a debriefing session, where students, teachers, and responders discussed lessons learned and identified areas for improvement.

SNHS Sends Off CDSA Athletes

SARA, Iloilo - As the upcoming sports meet approaches, Sara National High School (SNHS) held "ROAD TO CDSA: A send-off performance" on September 3, 2026, at the SNHS Gymnasium — rallying support for its athletes.

Athletes displayed their training and discipline through live demonstrations in Weightlifting, Pencak Silat, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Arnis, and Wrestling.

Municipal Mayor Jon N. Aying, Vice Mayor Ryan S. Zerrudo, and School Principal IV Jun Victor F. Bactan led local leaders in offering words of encouragement to inspire the delegation.

"Do your best, ipakita ninyo sa Lemery what every Saranhon has to offer," Bactan said.

His challenge urged the athletes to carry their hometown pride to the host town, reminding them that they are competing not just for medals but to showcase the true strength, character, and spirit of every Saranhon.

The campus community gathered to present the full athletic team and offer dedicated prayers for the safety and success of all competitors and coaches.

The send-off boosted the morale of the entire SNHS team before they stepped onto the 5th Congressional District Sports Association (CDSA) competition.

Sara LGU Conducts Orientation on Active Attack Incidents for Students

SARA, ILOILO—Sara Local Government Unit (LGU) conducted an orientation on safety procedures for active attack incidents for all students on September 2, 2026, emphasizing the importance of personal safety and preparedness in various situations.

Assistant School Head Designate Gezette B. Almanzor graced the program, welcoming the students and reminding them to be aware of their surroundings and responsible for their safety.

Police and local volunteers also imparted their knowledge and advice about protecting oneself and making safe decisions.

They discussed different ways students can recognize possible risks, stay safe, and seek help from trusted adults when needed.

Throughout the orientation, the students were encouraged to listen and participate, as the lessons can be useful both inside and outside the school.

The Nationwide Simultaneous Safety Drill on Active Attacks will be conducted on September 3, 2026.

Sara NHS continues to push students to be more aware, responsible, and prepared while following the school's mantra, “Be Better, Be Best.”

Campus Journalism Cluster Training Empowers Young Writers

Barotac Viejo, Iloilo — The Fifth Congressional District Secondary Campus Journalism Cluster Training held last August 15-16, 2026, gathered student writers, advisers, and aspiring journalists from across the district for two days of learning, collaboration, and skill-building.

The training opened with a keynote message emphasizing the importance of responsible reporting in shaping informed and engaged student communities. Facilitators highlighted that journalism is not just about writing stories, but about cultivating critical thinking and integrity among the youth.

Workshops covered various fields of campus journalism, including news writing, sports writing, feature writing, editorial writing, column writing, science and technology writing, copyreading and headline writing, editorial cartooning, photojournalism, mobile journalism, TV and Radio scriptwriting, online and collaborative desktop publishing, both in English and Filipino.

Each session provided hands-on activities, allowing participants to practice crafting headlines, structuring scripts and articles, and capturing compelling images.

Students from Sara National High School (SNHS) demonstrated their dedication and determination in campus journalism. Their excellent performances earned numerous awards and recognition in individual and group categories.

Sara NHS Launches Project BATAK to Support All Learners

Sara National High School (SNHS) officially launched Project BATAK on August 17, 2026, to help students build better habits, achieve their goals, and succeed in school.

With the theme "We lift, We guide, We inspire, We BATAK; Be Better, Be Best!, the program acronym stands for Building Aspirations, Transforming Attitudes, and Kindling Individuals’ Success.

The new initiative focuses on guiding students who faced academic difficulties, low motivation, or behavioral challenges, while also helping high-achieving students become future-ready leaders and responsible citizens.

During the project presentation, Assistant School Head Designate Ma'am Gezette B. Almanzor highlighted the core belief driving the initiative. "We believe that every learner has the potential to succeed when aspirations are nurtured, attitudes are transformed, and success is kindled through education," she stated.

Carrying the goal to every learner through a balanced and inclusive approach, Project BATAK is anchored to DepEd’s core values, Project SARA GUGMA, and the Schools Division of Iloilo EDUCARE Framework, focusing on making students academically competent, values-oriented, socially responsible, and emotionally strong.

Featuring key Local Government Unit Officials, School Heads, Community Leaders, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Representatives, and volunteer mentors, expresses strong support for the project.

This initiative integrates character building and guidance into flag ceremonies, homeroom sessions, regular classroom instruction, student leadership programs, and co-curricular activities.

Project BATAK follows three primary phases: pre-implementation, implementation, and post-implementation.

A commitment signing marked the conclusion of the launch event, uniting teachers, local officials, and student leaders in their shared goal to help learners thrive.

Sara NHS distributes MOOE-funded sports equipment during Sports Forum

SARA, Iloilo - Demonstrating its commitment to developing student-athletes and strengthening the school's sports program, Sara National High School (SNHS) distributed sports equipment funded through its Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) during the Sports Forum attended by athletes and coaches in preparation for the upcoming Municipal Meet.

The distribution forms part of the school's continuing efforts to equip its athletes with the resources needed to train effectively and compete at their best. The newly acquired sports equipment will support various sporting events while promoting physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among learners.

The Sports Forum also served as a venue to discuss the goals and expectations for the Municipal Meet, reinforce the responsibilities of athletes and coaches, and encourage unity, commitment, and excellence as they prepare to represent Saras National High School in the competition.

School Principal Jun Victor F. Bactan emphasized that investing in sports is an investment in the holistic development of learners.

"At Sara NHS, we believe that excellence extends beyond the classroom. Through the provision of quality sports equipment and the unwavering support of our coaches, we empower our student-athletes to develop their talents, build character, and proudly represent our school with integrity and excellence,' he said.

Funded through the schools' MOOEW, the initiative highlights Sara NHS's commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for learners to excel in both academics and athletics. It likewise reflects the school's vision of nurturing resilient, disciplined, and well-rounded individuals.

Guided by its mantra, "BE BETTER, BE BEST.", Sara National High School remains steadfast in fostering a culture of excellence where every learner is empowered to reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

Sara NHS participates in Kasangga Kabataan

Sara National High School (SNHS) participated in the Kasangga Kabataan, a forum on school safety, career security, and safe spaces for youth empowerment on August 3, 2026, at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Building.

This activity aims to instill civic responsibility and strong leadership, transforming young minds into active, empowered partners in driving meaningful and principled progress for the nation.

SNHS is represented by Kristyl Baldoza of Grade 9 Special Program in the Arts (SPA). With her are Mrs. Shandel Baldoza and Ma'am Genet B. Azuelo, Head Teacher II of the Science Department.

The forum concluded with a call for students to become advocates of school safety, career readiness, and youth empowerment, reinforcing the school's commitment to developing informed, responsible, and resilient future leaders.
