Last December 7, 2025, the Office of the Extension Services, in collaboration with the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) program, successfully implemented the project “Kangkong Polvoron: From Training to Thriving Business” at Barangay Anoring, Sara, Iloilo. The activity gathered the Barangay Anoring Women’s Association, who actively participated in the enhanced production and development of the community’s signature Kangkong Polvoron.
To ensure the product’s quality, safety, and market readiness, the Kangkong Polvoron was submitted to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) for Microbiological Testing and Proximate Analysis. We are pleased to share that the official certificate has already been released—a significant milestone for the community’s growing enterprise.
This initiative was made possible through the dedication of the project proponents:
Dr. Girlie Chavez, Dr. Renette Valderrama, Dr. Raffy Chavez, Prof. Jeevee Trestiza, together with selected BSHM students who assisted throughout the implementation.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to Punong Barangay Joelito Chavez for his unwavering support, and to Ms. Rocil Daria, President of the Barangay Anoring Women’s Association, for her leadership and commitment to the project.
Our sincere appreciation also goes to Ms. Lermie P. Tedocom, owner/proprietor of Think About Cakes, who served as our resource person on Marketing Strategy. Her insights and expertise greatly enriched the participants’ knowledge in promoting and sustaining their livelihood product.
This project reflects our collective dedication to community empowerment, women-led livelihood development, and sustainable local enterprise growth.🌱
