Sara NHS distributes MOOE-funded sports equipment during Sports Forum

SARA, Iloilo — Demonstrating its commitment to developing student-athletes and strengthening the school’s sports program, Sara National High School (Sara NHS) distributed sports equipment funded through its Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) during the Sports Forum attended by athletes and coaches in preparation for the upcoming Municipal Meet.

The distribution forms part of the school’s continuing efforts to equip its athletes with the resources needed to train effectively and compete at their best. The newly acquired sports equipment will support various sporting events while promoting physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among learners.

The Sports Forum also served as a venue to discuss the goals and expectations for the Municipal Meet, reinforce the responsibilities of athletes and coaches, and encourage unity, commitment, and excellence as they prepare to represent Sara National High School in the competition.

School Principal Jun Victor F. Bactan emphasized that investing in sports is an investment in the holistic development of learners.

“At Sara NHS, we believe that excellence extends beyond the classroom. Through the provision of quality sports equipment and the unwavering support of our coaches, we empower our student-athletes to develop their talents, build character, and proudly represent our school with integrity and excellence,” he said.

Funded through the school’s MOOE, the initiative highlights Sara NHS’s commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for learners to excel in both academics and athletics. It likewise reflects the school’s vision of nurturing resilient, disciplined, and well-rounded individuals.

Guided by its mantra, “BE BETTER. BE BEST.”, Sara National High School remains steadfast in fostering a culture of excellence where every learner is empowered to reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom. #

Every teacher understands the importance of documentation and accountability. Reports have their place, and many of them serve legitimate purposes.

But every additional requirement also comes with a cost.

Time.

Time that could have been spent preparing a better lesson.

Time that could have been spent checking on a struggling learner.

Time that could have been spent giving meaningful feedback or creating engaging classroom activities.

Teaching is more than delivering lessons. It requires planning, creativity, reflection, and building relationships with students. These are not things that can be rushed.

When teachers are overwhelmed by excessive paperwork and non-instructional tasks, it's not only the teachers who are affected.

Learners are, too.

If we truly want to improve education, we must protect the one resource teachers can never get back—time.

Because every hour a teacher spends away from instruction is an hour that could have been invested in a child's learning.

Supporting teachers isn't about making their jobs easier.

It's about giving them the capacity to do what they were trained and called to do.

Teach.

When teachers have more time to teach, learners receive more time to learn.

And in the end, that's what education should always be about.

Dear PARENTS,
15/07/2026

Dear PARENTS,

Discipline is one of the most misunderstood parts of teaching.

Many people think that when a teacher corrects a student's behavior, it means they're being cruel.

In reality, it's often the opposite.

Most teachers don't discipline students because they're angry. They do it because they care about the kind of person that child is becoming.

Every correction is an opportunity to teach values that cannot always be learned from textbooks—respect, honesty, responsibility, self-control, and accountability.

Of course, discipline should always be done with fairness, respect, and compassion. No child should ever be humiliated or harmed. The goal is not to instill fear but to guide learners toward making better choices.

Parents and teachers are not on opposite sides.

We're on the same team.

Both want children to grow into responsible, respectful, and kind individuals.

When parents support teachers, and teachers work hand in hand with parents, children receive a consistent message about what is right and wrong.

That partnership is one of the greatest gifts we can give them.

Because raising a child doesn't happen at home alone.

And it doesn't happen at school alone.

It happens when families and schools choose to work together for the good of every child.

A reminder to our dear LEARNERS.

A reminder to our dear LEARNERS.

We often tell students to study hard, get good grades, and aim for academic success.

There's nothing wrong with that.

But let's not forget that education is about more than report cards and awards.

One day, your grades will no longer define you.

People won't remember the score you got on a quiz or how high your average was in school.

What they will remember is your character.

Were you honest even when no one was watching?

Did you treat others with kindness and respect?

Did you choose integrity over shortcuts?

Did you help others instead of bringing them down?

Good grades can open opportunities.

But it is your character that earns trust, builds meaningful relationships, and determines how far you'll go in life.

The world doesn't just need intelligent people.

It needs people who are responsible, compassionate, humble, and honest.

So yes, study hard.

Do your best in every subject.

Aim for excellence.

But while you're working to become a successful student, don't forget to become a good person.

Because long after your report cards are forgotten, your character will continue to speak for you.

A NEW CHAPTER OF LEADERSHIP, SERVICE, AND PARTNERSHIP

With hearts full of gratitude and hope, we proudly celebrate the successful conduct of the School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) Election, marking another significant milestone in strengthening the partnership between the school and our parents in advancing quality education for every learner.

We warmly congratulate the newly elected SPTA officers, led by our new SPTA President, Mr. Joelito Chavez. As you begin your term, may your leadership be guided by integrity, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to the welfare of our learners, parents, teachers, and the entire school community. We look forward to working hand in hand with you in creating meaningful programs and initiatives that will continue to nurture a safe, inclusive, and learner-centered educational environment.

At the same time, we extend our deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing SPTA officers, led by Mr. Manuel Y. Espiga, Sr., for their remarkable two years of selfless service, unwavering commitment, and invaluable contributions to our school. Your leadership, support, and countless sacrifices have helped strengthen the bond between the school and the community, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire future generations of parent leaders.

As one chapter closes and another begins, may we continue to uphold the spirit of unity, volunteerism, and shared responsibility, recognizing that the success of our learners is a collective endeavor.
Together, let us continue building stronger partnerships, empowering families, and creating brighter opportunities for every child.

Congratulations to our newly elected SPTA officers, and thank you to our outgoing officers for your dedicated service. May God continue to bless and guide you all in your journey of leadership and service.
