Marsman NHS Drum and Lyre Gives Its Best in Final-Day Showdown

Marsman National High School’s Drum and Lyre Corps gave its all on the final day of competition as it faced four other delegates, showcasing discipline, teamwork, and determination despite falling short of the victory.

Behind the performance was a significant financial commitment to sustain the school’s participation, with the Marsman Foundation extending support and donating musical instruments for the corps. More than the competition result, the experience highlighted the collective effort of the performers, coaches, school, and supporters who invested time, resources, and trust in giving Marsman NHS a chance to shine on the competition stage.

A Legacy Beyond One Year

There are leaders who simply manage a school, and there are leaders who leave a legacy. Sir Gabriel Angelo Dadula is one of those rare leaders.

In just one year of serving as our School Head, Sir Gab has made a remarkable impact on Marsman National High School. His leadership brought discipline, order, and excellence that reached every corner of our school—from our students, parents, PTA, teachers, and non-teaching personnel. Everyone clearly understood their roles and responsibilities because of the systems and direction he established.

More than the physical improvements and beautification of our school, Sir Gab cultivated a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork. He also helped us better understand our professional growth empowering us to grow not only as educators but also as professionals committed to continuous improvement.

As you begin another chapter of your journey, Sir Gab, we sincerely thank you for your unwavering commitment and genuine service. The school that will welcome you is truly fortunate to have a leader like you. We are confident that, just as you transformed our school, you will continue to inspire and uplift your new school community.

Thank you for your exemplary leadership, your guidance, and for believing in us.

Once a Marsmanian leader, always a part of the Marsman family.

God bless you on your new assignment, Sir Gabriel Angelo Dadula. May God continue to bless your leadership and grant you success wherever your mission takes you. Your legacy at Marsman National High School will always be remembered. 💚

Marsman National High School oriented the parents of learners identified as beneficiaries of the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program on Wednesday morning, strengthening home-school collaboration to support the successful implementation of the Department of Education's learning recovery initiative in both literacy and numeracy.

The orientation was spearheaded by School Head Gabriel Angelo G. Dadula, together with ARAL Literacy Coordinator Hazel Joy Tagobader and ARAL Numeracy Coordinator Chukie Jean Pabulaya, who discussed the program's objectives, implementation guidelines, and the vital role of parents in ensuring the active participation of their children in the ARAL Literacy and ARAL Numeracy interventions.

The Greatest Win Came After the Game

Mayor Roland Dejesica’s heartfelt gesture to injured Marsman standout Jhon Ivan Bongabong proved that the most meaningful victories are not always measured by the final score.

Not every victory is reflected on the scoreboard. Sometimes, the greatest wins happen after the final buzzer.

Although Marsman National High School fell short against Temple Christian School in today’s Mayor’s Cup Inter-School League, the game concluded with a moment that transcended basketball.

After sustaining an injury in the middle of the game, Marsman’s standout player, Jhon Ivan Bongabong, received an unexpected act of kindness from Mayor Roland Dejesica. Moved by the young athlete’s determination and unwavering spirit, the mayor personally removed his own pair of shoes and presented them to Jhon Ivan after the final whistle.

It was more than a simple gift—it became a powerful symbol of encouragement, compassion, and belief in a young athlete’s future. It served as a reminder that true leadership is not only about celebrating champions, but also about lifting those who display courage, resilience, and heart despite adversity.

While Marsman did not secure the win on the court, Jhon Ivan walked away with something far more enduring—an unforgettable reminder that perseverance, character, and dedication never go unnoticed.

Some victories cannot be counted on a scoreboard. They are measured by the lives they inspire.
