The Ire of Habagat 2012 (CFSI STO. TOMAS)
By: Mr. Christopher T
Tragedy is what we try to pass over as we experienced the indignation of the so called “Habagat” which shattered the people especially those coming from the lowland areas. As I had seen the circumstances, it was excruciating on my part to see and hear people crying and shouting for help. My adrenalin rushed when I saw the hastening flood while people were running and shuddering for help. Sir Jayson, Ma’am Cath, Ma’am Rej, Ma’am Maricris, Ma’am Ria and I were dazed and we immediately packed our things unmindful of the fatigue. We gathered all the important things we could possibly save like the computers and many more. Sir Jayson decided to let the people of Sto. Tomas who were seeking for help to temporarily use the classrooms of our school, Children of Fatima School of Sto. Tomas, Inc.,with the acquiescence of the President of the school , Ma’am Precy. We heard different stories with reference to on how they were ram shackled by the flood and on how their homes were devastated.
In this existence altering occurrence, I thanked the Almighty for saving us and letting people to be united. There were so many individuals who gave a hand in reaching those who were in need. Ma’am Precy who was the President of the school and her family gave some relief goods to those who were dilapidated by the floods and sincerely bestowed you an idea about their sympathy and adherence of service. Some politicians and concerned individuals extended their hands as well without hesitations and forgetting the idea of expecting something in return. They offered free aids and comfort which were looked-for in this much needed situation. As one of our students said in vernacular, “Agyu tamu ini Sir”, while looking at me with worriless and smile in her cute young face. We (Sir Jayson, Ma’am Cath, Ma’am Rej and I) were marooned for a week and didn’t leave each other as we called it “through shoddier and nastiest of life”.
My heartfelt thanks as well because God gave us the audacity in facing this kind of challenge. Physical and emotional fatigues were surmounted, Amity and sincerity amalgamated; and Staying power was hardened.

“Implementing New Education: The K+12”
by: Camille Zapata
This year 2012, the Department of Education really implements the adding of two more years in the Basic Curriculum which is being held in all schools both private and public all over the country. As I know, the process for this curriculum took time to be made because the proposals for 12-year basic education have been already discussed since 1930’s. But due to lack of budget of the government, they decided to continue first the 10-year basic curriculum until President Benigno Aquino Jr. has been sat on his position. This implementation became an alarming issue for the students and also with the parents. Many of them reacted negatively. “I want to be in college already.” “Mahirap na nga ang buhay daragdagan pa ng 2 years.” These are just some of the opinion that I’ve heard from others. Though it’s true, there still positive side for it and we have to think first for the benefits before we complain. Of course to those poor Filipinos, this would be another lost for them especially to those families that used an instalment for education like those who have many siblings. But what’s the problem with them is that they lack of control. Why do they have to bear multiple individuals yet they suffer for their living and can’t handle them? The worst thing is that they do all the best that they could for their siblings in order for them to have that education but all they can find from them is to become lazy when it comes to studies. There are also some instances wherein the parents knew that their child attends his classes but the truth is that they didn’t. However, children and youth have to face K+12 that could help them in their own success and I believe that it’s not just all about adding 2 more years but it is about for our education life that will prepare us for the future.
“As I Am”
by: Camille Zapata
They say that being a feature editor is not that easy or in vernacular term “basta-basta lang”. Aside for his duties that include editing copy and assigning story ideas, he/she also manages the article section of a publication. Another may also be his responsibility to write features and to ensure that it is fit for publication.
“What is the feeling of being a feature editor?” – This was the question that has been asked to me. Honestly, it was my first time to become a feature editor which is part of English Club entitled Heralds Guild. As I have elected, I felt being flattered because of the opportunity that they have given me especially in the fact that I’m already a graduating student. I know that there are many other students having that ability and potential but still they chose me as one of them. Because of that trust, I’m also thankful and I’ll do the best of I can to prove that it would not be wasted and at the same time, in fulfilling my duties and responsibilities that have assigned to me for the success of this club.
ACCORDING TO SIR JAYSON, CLASSES WILL BE SUSPENDED TODAY DUE TO TYPHOON. PLEASE SHARE. THANK YOU.
Meeting for what?
by: Chelsea Anne Gatus
June 22, 2012 at exactly 2:30 pm parents came at CFSI of Sto.Tomas. But for what? Parents had their orientation or meeting in each section. That day, one particular adviser in one particular section met parents while discussing the rules and regulations of the school. It includes the rule of maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the school, the right speaking of the three languages which includes Tagalog, English, and also the language of us pampangueños the Kapampangan, the classfunds, typhoon rules, the new grading system, and all activities of the school that will happen in this school year 2012-2013.
But what is the relevance of this meeting? The relevance of this is for them to know or for them to become update with all of the events and activities of the school and through this meeting it will give the parents informations. Parents have too to object the adviser on that topic to be discussed and give suggestions or options for the good sake of the class. That day, they had their Election of PTA officers where in parents will nominate other parent in a particular position such as President, Vice president, the Secretary, Treasurer, and, the Auditor. But if they became an officer, what are the things that they can do? Actually, the PTA officers and the class officers themselves will "join force" to propose plans or projects to have a good and memorable year for the students.
PTA meeting is a chance for parents to meet the adviser of their children. And also, PTA meeting is very important for parents, students and school. It will the parents a freedom to hear all of the informations and let them to speak out their suggestions because parents are very important elements of the school.
Let us talk about NUTRITION
by: Louie Anne Baligad
CFSI is celebrating a program about Nutrition. This year's theme for Nutrition Month is, ''Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw itong ihain.'' It means that, we have to serve vegetables on each meal, because it is very nutritous. They will also persuing activities, such as, Essay Writting, Pagsulat ng sanaysay, Poster Making, Solo singing, and ever Film Viewing, to help the Fatimanians enhance their skills in drawing and writting essays and articles. They will also be having Food Festival for Elementary, and Tunog Kusina for the High School Department.
However, me and my fellow Fatimanians are expecting that this year's Nutrition Month will be very exciting. This program is for the parents too. In order for them to be informed and equipped with knowledge about how and why they should cook and serve vegetables and other nutritious foods on their meals for their kids..
What's the relevance of having this kind of program? For me, the relavence of this program is to let the students to have confidence, in such a way of performing in front of many people, and to open their minds on how important balance-diet is. I hope that this program will set a smile in the face of the Fatimanians, and feed their minds with the greatness of Fruits and Vegetables.
