THE TALOMO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED THE 2ND QUARTER NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS
EARTHQUAKE DRILL.
The earthquake drill was successfully conducted at Talomo Elementary School, providing valuable knowledge and practical experience to ensure the safety of all learners, teachers, and personnel during emergencies. Prior to the activity, a dissemination of information was carried out in coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) to raise awareness about earthquake preparedness and the importance of disaster risk reduction. The LGU also prepared and operated the alert signal that served as the official signal for the commencement of the drill as part of the school's opening activities for the new academic year.
At exactly 9:00 a.m., the earthquake drill officially began with the alert signal. Upon hearing the signal, students, teachers, and school personnel immediately performed the standard “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure. Participants remained calm and followed the established safety protocols while demonstrating proper response actions during a simulated earthquake. The activity allowed everyone to practice the correct procedures that can help minimize injuries and ensure orderly evacuation during an actual earthquake.
After the completion of the drill, School Head Medardo Jr. Abellana provided feedback, corrections, and additional information to further strengthen the participants’ understanding of disaster preparedness. He emphasized the importance of being alert, disciplined, and prepared at all times, especially during natural disasters. The activity also reinforced the school’s commitment to promoting a culture of safety and resilience among learners.
Through regular drills and continuous information campaigns, Talomo Elementary School aims to enhance disaster preparedness and ensure the protection and well-being of the entire school community.
