Sto. Niño National High School under the leadership of Sir. Roger U. Buco, Principal III actively participated in the Calendar Year 2026 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on June 18, 2026, at 9:00 o’clock in the morning.

The activity brought together both Junior High School and Senior High School students, teachers, and personnel, who simultaneously participated in the earthquake drill. The exercise aimed to enhance awareness, preparedness, and proper response during earthquake emergencies.

Prior to the simulation, Mr. Ceazar Dannug, Teacher II, conducted an informative discussion on the importance of Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid, emphasizing the essential skills needed to provide immediate assistance during emergencies and potentially save lives while waiting for professional medical responders.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jaymark Bartolome, Teacher III, highlighted the importance of earthquake drills, stressing the need for regular practice to ensure that students and school personnel are familiar with safety protocols and appropriate actions before, during, and after an earthquake.

The successful conduct of the drill reflects the school’s continuous efforts to promote a culture of safety, preparedness, and resilience among learners and stakeholders. Through activities such as the NSED, Sto. Niño National High School strengthens its capacity to respond effectively to disasters and emergencies.

The participation of the school is anchored on SDO-Cagayan Division Order No. 257, s. 2026, entitled “Participation to the CY 2026 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED),” and is further guided by DepEd Order No. 4, s. 2020, or the Guidelines on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) for Schools, as well as Republic Act No. 10121, otherwise known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, which mandates proactive disaster preparedness and risk reduction measures.

Sto. Niño National High School successfully conducted its PTA General Orientation as part of the Opening Block activities for School Year 2026–2027, bringing together parents, guardians, teachers, and school leaders in a shared commitment to nurturing responsible, competent, and future-ready learners.

The program formally opened with a welcome message from Mr. Roger U. Buco, Principal III, delivered on his behalf by Mrs. Thelma E. Caram, Master Teacher II. Parents were also inspired by the message of Mr. Alexander G. Desamito, Outgoing SPTA President, who emphasized the importance of continued parent involvement in supporting the school’s programs and initiatives.

One of the highlights of the orientation was the discussion on the Child Protection Policy and Anti-Bullying Policy led by Mrs. Nymfa T. Eusebio, Teacher III and JHS Guidance Counselor Designate, reinforcing the school’s commitment to providing a safe, secure, and learner-friendly environment.

Meanwhile, Mr. Manuel R. Centeno, Teacher III and School Prefect of Discipline, discussed the updated school policies contained in the 2025 SNHS Revised Student Handbook, ensuring that parents are informed of the rules, expectations, and standards that guide student behavior and academic life.

Parents were likewise oriented on the Implementation of the Three-Term Calendar through the presentations of Mrs. Thelma E. Caram, Master Teacher II, and Ms. Claribel D. Centeno, Teacher III, who explained the significant changes in the school calendar and its implications for learners and families.

Additional announcements were delivered by Ms. Ana Liza D. Dannug, Teacher III, regarding the Special Needs Education (SNED) Program; Mr. John Ceazar D. Dannug, Teacher II, regarding the Boy Scouts of the Philippines; and Ms. Mylene P. Daquioag, Teacher III and School Brigada Eskwela Coordinator, who thanked the parents for their support during the recently concluded Brigada.

Adding color and cultural pride to the event was the impressive Bayle Iloco presentation by the talented learners of the Special Program in the Arts (SPA) Grades 7 and 8.

Through meaningful discussions and active participation, the orientation strengthened the partnership between the school and the home, highlighting the shared responsibility of shaping learners who are academically prepared, values-oriented, and ready to meet the challenges of the future.

Guided by its mantra, “Iti Sirib Isu ti Bileg” (Wisdom is Strength), Sto. Niño National High School remains steadfast in fostering collaboration among parents, teachers, and stakeholders in pursuit of quality education for all.

We sincerely appreciate the valuable technical assistance, guidance, and support she generously extended to our teachers and school personnel. In line with the Opening Block activities for School Year 2026–2027, the Senior High School Department successfully conducted its Students' and Parents’ Orientation with the theme, “Strengthening School–Home Partnership for Learners’ Success.” The activity served as an avenue to strengthen collaboration between the school and parents in supporting the academic, personal, and career development of our learners.

The program opened with a prayer led by Ms. Sharon D. Paat, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem facilitated by Ms. Logen F. Soriano. Our School Principal III, Mr. Roger U. Buco, duly represented by Ms. Joy M. Remolacio, Master Teacher I and SHS Coordinator warmly welcomed the parents, emphasized the vital role of a strong school-home partnership in ensuring learner success and thanked the parents for their unending support to their children and to the SNHS community.

A significant highlight of the orientation was the message delivered by Mrs. Melita Cuarteros, SDO-Cagayan EPS-EPP,TLE,TVL/TechPro who discussed the key changes brought about by the Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum and their implications for learners and parents. She also proudly shared the outstanding achievements of Sto. Niño National High School in the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) Track, particularly the successful participation of the Grade 11 Home Economics (HE) learners in the recent summer TESDA NC II Assessment. Mrs. Cuarteros attributed this accomplishment to the unwavering support and leadership of School Principal Roger U. Buco, the dedicated guidance of their advisers, Mr. Johnmark S. Binuya and the TVL teachers, as well as the hard work and determination of the learners themselves. The school proudly celebrates the 100% passing rate in NC II certification, especially in the Home Economics specialization, reflecting the department’s commitment to excellence and industry-ready education.

Parents were then oriented on important school matters, including School Policies and the Child Protection Policy, discussed by Mr. Ralph Randahl Espejo. An overview of the Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum was presented by Mrs. Joy M. Remolacio, providing parents with valuable insights into the updated educational framework and its benefits for learners.

Further Mr. Johnmark S. Binuya discussed the expectations and requirements for Work Immersion and TESDA NC II Certification, helping parents understand the pathways available for their children’s future careers and employment opportunities.

The orientation also featured the Election of PTA Officers facilitated by Mrs. Teresa B. Pascua and Mr. Arnel Bert Asuncion, along with discussions on parents’ responsibilities and support systems, reinforcing the importance of active parental involvement in school programs and learner development.

Through continued collaboration, we remain committed to nurturing empowered, future-ready, and globally competitive learners.

The second day of the Opening Block successfully gathered our Junior High School learners and teachers for a meaningful General Orientation aimed at fostering awareness, preparedness, and a positive learning environment for the new school year.

The program began with the Philippine National Anthem led by Mrs. Donna Grace F. Dannug and an opening prayer facilitated by Mrs. Mariles P. Prudenciano. An inspiring opening message was then delivered by our School Principal III, Mr. Roger U. Buco, duly represented by Mrs. Thelma E. Caram, Master Teacher II who emphasized the importance of collaboration, discipline, and shared responsibility in achieving educational success.

Informative orientations followed, including the discussion of the School Policies and Student Handbook by Mr. Manuel R. Centeno, the Child Protection Policy by Mrs. Nymfa T. Eusebio, the Guidelines for a Safe and Supportive Learning Environment by Mr. Romeo D. Pecson Jr., and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Orientation by Mr. Jaymark A. Bartolome.

An open forum facilitated by the Grade Level Coordinators provided learners and parents the opportunity to raise questions and gain clarifications on school policies and procedures. The program concluded with closing remarks from Mrs. Corazon M. Dayag, Master Teacher II encouraging everyone to work together toward a productive and successful school year.

The afternoon session focused on the administration of numeracy and literacy evaluations and learner profiling, ensuring that our learners are properly assessed and guided as they begin their academic journey this school year.

Together, we continue to build a safe, inclusive, and learner-centered SNHS community.
