Join us in the upcoming Philippine Environmental Science Summit 2022 on June 7, 8:00AM to 5:00PM as we kick-off the 7-month long celebration of the UPLB-SESAM founding anniversary!

With the theme, “Only One Earth: The role of environmental science in achieving Sustainable Development Goals”, we invited four distinguished plenary speakers.

Throughout the plenary session, we will hear from UP Diliman Chancellor Fidel R. Nemenzo, Professor Emeritus Ben S. Malayang III of Siliman University, National Scientist Lourdes J. Cruz of the Future Earth Philippines Program, and UPLB Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Nathaniel Bantayan.

Great news! The Biological Research and Services Laboratory will conduct the Basic Molecular Biology Workshop 2022, this coming June 16 and June 17, 2022.

In this 2-day workshop, we will tackle the basic principles and applications of molecular biology. Lectures and activities will be headed by BRSL university researchers and research associates.

Training kit will be provided to participants. This includes manual on Basic Molecular Biology, worksheets, and a certificate.

LIMITED SLOTS ONLY! Due to the limited number of training kits available, registrants will be screened and only selected registrants will receive the training kit. See poster below for the screening criteria. However, for those who will not be selected for the training manual, BRSL may still accept participants to attend to the webinar, but for limited slots only.

This is an online quiz bowl competition between student representatives from senior high schools from all over the Philippines. The questions are based on the fields of Astronomy and Astrophysics. The quiz is of multiple choice type and will be held in Zoom and Discord. 6 surprise trivia questions will also be given for the viewers in the Facebook live stream of the quiz bowl.

𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Astronomers, photographers, or anyone who appreciates the beauty of the universe will submit an original photograph featuring astronomical objects, celestial events, or the sky in general that is in line with the theme, “Living under the same sky”. This online photography contest is open to people from all over the Philippines. 15 photos from the submissions will be chosen after the pre-judging and will be posted on our official page.

𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
This is an online contest open to high school and college students from all over the Philippines. Participants will submit an original digital poster that best portrays the event theme. 15 posters from the submissions will be chosen after pre-judging and will be posted on our official page. Winners are determined according to the number of reactions and a criterion for judging.

This is an online trivia competition open to people from all over the Philippines. The trivia topics will be posted on our official page: USC Physics and Astronomy Society, and will start from 6:00 PM PhST and will end at 8:00 PM PhST of the same day. Two winners will be randomly selected per day.

This is a free, 4-day webinar where experts and science communicators in the field of Astronomy and Astrophysics will give talks related to the event theme. This will be held in Zoom and live-streamed to our official page. Surprise trivia questions will also be presented by the speakers in the middle of their, and is open to be answered by all the viewers in Zoom and Facebook live. Similarly, a cash prize of 100 pesos will be given to the winners.
