HISTORICAL GLIMPSE

As Balibago, City of Santa Rosa, Laguna grew, the need for a Catholic school emerged. In 1993, the Dominican Fathers, in collaboration with the San Lorenzo Development Corporation (SLDC) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Retirement and Separation Benefit System (AFP-RSBS), invited the Sisters of the Congregation of the Religious Missionaries of St. Bonifacio Solis, OP, la

id the cornerstone on a five-hectare land, marking the foundation of the Dominican College of Sta. Initially intended as an all-girls school, it later included boys. DCSR was established in 1994, starting with pre-school to Grade 6. By 1995, it expanded to high school and college courses, including BS Psychology, AB Mass Communication, BS Hotel and Restaurant Management, and various education and business courses. The school received government recognition for its elementary and high school departments in 1995 and 1997, respectively, and for several college courses between 1998 and 2000. In 2000, a science-enriched curriculum was introduced. The college added a Professional Caregiver Program in 2002 and BS Nursing in 2003, with government recognition following in 2004 and 2007. In 2012, DCSR adopted the K-12 curriculum with added enrichment in science, math, and English. DCSR achieved accreditation milestones, including a Certification Status as an ESC-participating school in 2013, PAASCU Candidate Status in 2016, and PAASCU Level 1 Accredited Status in 2018. A resurvey in 2022 led to PAASCU Level II Re-Accredited Status in May 2023, valid until 2028. Dominican College of Sta. Rosa continues to offer quality, innovative education, fostering academic excellence and leadership. 📣 CLASS ADVISORY

In accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 131 issued by the Office of the President, Malacañang, upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Dominican College of Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Inc. will implement Alternative Learning Modes for all levels tomorrow, Thursday, August 20, 2026.

This is in anticipation of continued heavy rainfall associated with the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which may pose risks of localized flooding and travel hazards. The Province of Laguna is among the areas covered by the Memorandum Circular.

Accordingly, there will be NO FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES tomorrow. All students are advised to shift to the appropriate alternative learning modality as directed by their respective teachers. Learning continuity measures shall be implemented to ensure that students can continue their lessons while prioritizing their safety.

The safety and well-being of our students, parents, faculty, and staff remain our highest priority. We encourage everyone to stay indoors whenever possible, remain vigilant, and continue monitoring official announcements and weather advisories.

DISCIPLINE BEGINS WITH CONNECTION: PARENTS AND SCHOOL AS PARTNERS

Responsible parenthood is more than providing for our children’s material and educational needs. It is also about being present, listening, guiding, and making time to understand them.

As parents and guardians, let us remember that the school is only a partner in molding our children’s character. Teachers and school personnel can guide, teach, discipline, and support them during school hours, but the home remains the first and most important environment where values, attitudes, respect, responsibility, and character are developed.

In the midst of busy schedules, schoolwork, gadgets, social media, and friendships, let us intentionally create a special time for our children.

Set aside a time when there are no school requirements, no work distractions, no gadgets, no social media, and no friends—just parents, guardians, and their children. Sit with them. Ask about their day. Ask what they are going through. Ask what makes them happy, what worries them, and what they may be afraid to share.

Most importantly, listen without immediately judging or lecturing. Sometimes, children do not need another instruction; they simply need someone who will listen and understand.

Discipline is not only about correcting mistakes. True discipline is built through relationship, consistency, guidance, and communication. When children know that their parents are present and approachable, they are more likely to seek guidance before making difficult decisions.

Let us work together as a home and school partnership. The school can help shape and strengthen our children’s character, but the values we want them to live by must also be consistently practiced and reinforced at home.

Parents and guardians, your presence matters. Your time matters. Your conversations matter.

Let us not wait for a problem, a failing grade, a disciplinary concern, or a crisis before we make time for our children.

Make time now. Sit down. Talk. Listen. Connect. Guide.

Because raising responsible, disciplined, and compassionate young people is not the responsibility of the school alone.

It is a partnership and it begins at home.

𝑫𝑪𝑺𝑹 𝑩𝑶𝑼𝑵𝑪𝑬𝑺 𝑩𝑨𝑪𝑲! 🏐🔥

𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚 (𝐃𝐂𝐒𝐑) 𝐁𝐨𝐲𝐬’ 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐲𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 showed grit and determination against Caritas at the Brent International School Manila Invitational Volleyball Tournament last August 15, 2026.

After losing the first set, the Dominicans fought back hard, winning three straight sets to seal a 𝟑–𝟏 𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚.

In accordance with the advisory issued by the Local Government Unit of Santa Rosa City in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) Santa Rosa, Dominican College of Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Inc. will implement Alternative Learning Modes for all levels tomorrow, Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

This is in view of the suspension of face-to-face classes due to the expected heavy rainfall and possible inclement weather conditions affecting the area.

Accordingly, there will be NO FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES tomorrow. All students are advised to shift to the appropriate alternative learning modality such as modular, asynchronous, or blended learning, as directed by their respective teachers.

In accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 128 issued by the Office of the President, Malacañang, and upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Dominican College of Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Inc. will implement Alternative Learning Modes for all levels tomorrow, Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

This is in view of the Heavy Rainfall Warnings issued by PAGASA due to the continuous heavy rainfall associated with the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Accordingly, there will be NO FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES tomorrow. All students are advised to be communicated with their respective adviser and subject teachers for HOME Program instructions.

📣 CLASS ADVISORY

In accordance with the announcement regarding the implementation of Alternative Learning Modes for Schools on August 17, 2026, and pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 127, Dominican College of Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Inc. will implement alternative learning modalities, HOME Program, for all levels today, Monday, August 17, 2026, at 12:00 noon.

This decision is in consideration of the prevailing weather conditions and aims to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, parents, faculty, and staff while maintaining the continuity of learning.

Parents and Guardians are advised to fetch their child soon as tbis post is read. For students, kindy coordinate with their respective teachers and monitor their official class communication channels for learning instructions, activities, and other announcements.

The iPad Kids Have Left the Chat..

For the first time ever, the Dominican College of Santa Rosa joined Siklabang Leon: Palarong Pinoy Competition 2026, held at the City of Santa Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex on August 11–12, 2026!

From being the generation known for screens and gadgets, our Dominican players stepped away from their “iPad kid” era and into the world of traditional Filipino games. On Day 1, they took on Tumbang Preso, Chinese Garter,Calamansi Spoon Relay, and Dodgeball, bringing energy, teamwork, and Dominican pride to every game.

The fun continued on Day 2 with Bato-Bato Pick, Tadyang-Kadang, Luksong Sako,Cup Stacking, and Garter Relay. Each game tested not only their speed and skills, but also their teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. Congratulations to our 10 brave dominikano representatives who gave their all and proudly carried the Dominican name: Michael Julien Aventura, John Ace Era, Rayven Fritz Oriel, Quin Alfiery Alcazar, Michael Boniol, Sophia Paula Mascareñas, Airiz Dominguez, Andreja Laureen Sianen, Nashia Gail De Vera, and Mery Jane Ignacio. ✨🎉

This memorable two-day celebration was made possible through the collaboration of Changing Lives in Every Shot Inc., Project Sinag Inc., and the Santa Rosa City Youth Development Office. More than just a competition, Siklabang Leon reminded us that sometimes, the best way to have fun is to put down the gadgets, gather your friends, and play like a kid again.

📣 CLASS RESUMPTION ADVISORY

We are pleased to inform the entire Dominican College of Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Inc. community that face-to-face classes will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in all levels.

This decision follows the latest assessment of the prevailing weather conditions and the announcement of the Provincial Government of Laguna, indicating that it is now appropriate to resume regular face-to-face learning.

We look forward to welcoming our students, faculty, and staff back to campus as we gradually return to our regular school routines. We also remind everyone to remain vigilant and continue taking necessary precautions, especially as weather conditions may still change.

In line with the announcement of the Provincial Government of Laguna, there will still be NO FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES tomorrow, Tuesday, August 11, 2026, due to the continuing inclement weather conditions affecting the province.

All face-to-face classes shall continue to shift to online alternative learning modalities to ensure the continuity of learning while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff.

Students are advised to coordinate with their respective teachers and regularly check their official class communication channels for instructions, schedules, and learning materials.
