When I was younger, vacations meant adventure and exploration — climbing, wandering, discovering new places.
Now, they mean serenity — slow mornings, quiet hotels, and the luxury of doing absolutely nothing. ☕🌿
It’s funny how the definition of “escape” changes with the seasons of life. In our early years, we chase experiences; later, we crave balance.
Here’s to honouring all kinds of de-stressing — because rest is not a reward, it’s a requirement. 🌸

time: In the earlier phase of my leadership journey, I really struggled to understand let alone managing younger Millennials, and now, Gen Z.
I wouldn’t use the word “hate,” but let’s be real… it was hard.
I’m an older Millennial, raised in hustle culture, 12-hour workdays, and that “immortal” mindset of "always grind, because rest is for the weak".
Back then, boundaries were a luxury, not a norm.
Back then I was part of the "younger generation" who had to prove herself day in and day out.
But now that I’ve had the chance to work closely with the NOW younger generation, I’ll say this: I’m learning from them.
Most of them are emotionally mature in ways that impress me: regardless of gender, they’re in touch with their feelings and unafraid to express them. They’re confident enough to ask for help, seek mentorship, and build genuine connections.
They know their boundaries, when to log off, when to speak up, when something’s not okay.
And here’s the beautiful part: most of them have a growth mindset. They’re curious, hungry to learn, and still carry that fire we once had, only this time, they’re wiser about where they burn their energy.
I used to think I had to always guide and teach them.
Now, I realise… they’re teaching me too.

I saw this post going around social media, a Gen Z employee filed a leave because of a breakup. Some laughed, some throw shade on the reason provided, but honestly? Wala namang mali sa email nya. Could the email be worded differently? Probably. (But would you expect a perfectly worded email from someone suffering?)
The point is, we all have moments when we just need to pause, breathe, and recover.
That’s why government-mandated leaves exist, not as a favour from the company, but as a right to protect our health and well-being.
If you’re a manager, HR, or team lead, please remember:
✨ Rest is not laziness.
✨ Leave is not a privilege.
✨ And empathy will always be good leadership.
Let’s normalise taking a break, whether it’s because of burnout, heartbreak, or healing.
Minsan, kailangan lang talaga natin huminga. 🌿

Sometimes, the simplest words stay with you.
One of the Engineers I coach told me he looks forward to our sessions because they’ve become his “debrief”, a space to pause, reflect, and gain clarity on where he’s been, what he’s overcome, and what he’s achieved since our last conversation.
It reminded me that coaching isn’t only about moving forward, it’s also about recognizing how far you’ve come. And sometimes, that recognition is the clarity we need to keep going.
Light moments, casual conversations, safe space, honest reflections, these are the small sparks that make coaching powerful.

Grateful to have been part of StrengthsFinder Philippines ' EmpowerCon: 10 Years of Empowering Lives. The conference was filled with learning, reflection, and inspiration.
The sessions reinforced the power of focusing on strengths, well-being, and purpose, reminders that couldn’t have come at a better time. From conversations on clarity by Ruth Saw, understanding self and others by Jayson Lo, Gallup insights on engagement and thriving by Kanika Singh, the power of play by Coach Monica Cruz, to Career Wellbeing through powerful coaching conversations by Coach LeDon Brooks of Schneider Electric, and Community Wellbeing by Coach Pia Acevedo, every moment was a chance to see how strengths can transform not only individuals but entire organisations.
As a coach and as someone with Learner, Achiever, Arranger, Belief, and Responsibility in my top CliftonStrengths, I felt deeply connected to the themes of the event. These strengths push me to keep learning, to turn insights into action, to bring people together, to stay anchored in values, and to follow through with commitment.
I’m thankful for this opportunity to learn alongside leaders, coaches, and changemakers, and I’m excited to apply these lessons in my role today and to my community, while continuing my journey towards becoming a CliftonStrengths Coach!
Shoutout to Coach Cristina Alafriz for her awesome Dream & Dare card game, and to Management Strategies for inviting Gian and I.
Here’s to empowering others to see and use their best potential!
