Dear Pilarians,

Hello everyone. I sincerely hope that you are all fine and doing well while being held up or locked down within the confines of your homes. Be patient, dear Pilarians, for God, our loving and merciful Father, always listens to our prayers. So keep praying for God’s mercy that all of us be SAVED from all sickness especially from this Covid pandemic.

As reported in the news (yesterday and today) President Duterte’s pronouncement of “NO VACCINE NO OPENING OF CLASSES” was clarified by no less than his spokesman, Atty. Harry Roque, which was further clarified/verified /explained by other members of the IATF, that what the President REALLY meant was that he won’t allow schools to open using FACE-TO-FACE TEACHING WITHOUT VACCINE. In effect, JUNE 1-30 registration is still ON and school opening starts on August 24 as previously announced for many schools, if not all.

Like I said in my first letter, dated May 18, 2020, OLPA will start accommodating new applicants and former pupils via on line registration or through appointment, and that we will be using the BLENDED Learning mode of teaching and learning. So for those of you who do not have computer with internet connectivity, do not worry too much, because you can still be able to learn just as much as those pupils with internet accessibility. Since most of you have CPs at your disposal (remember, I asked you several times before who among you have personal CP and to which you said that you all have), we can use several different learning platforms appropriate to your individual needs, (examples of which are messenger chatrooms, google meet, self-learning modular kits, downloadable lessons/worksheets/assessment tools saved in flash drives, scheduled home visits, class restructuring, etc.). All that we need to do is to be creative, innovative and resourceful. We can always find ways to help you learn, but this can only be possible if you have the WILL / DETERMINATION to learn more.

OLPA’s very limited pupil-teacher ratio should be an advantage for all of us. We can easily reach- out to each other without much delay because, as the saying goes, we are just “a phone call away or just a stone–throw away” from each other. So, information dissemination shouldn’t be a problem.
However, just in case, small schools like OLPA, will be allowed to have blended learning WITH FACE TO FACE INSTRUCTIONS, our plan is to adopt a different way of scheduling classes. For example, we will adopt MWF or TTHS class scheduling. Details on this will be discussed later, just as soon as we get the approval from the IATF, if ever.

Dear Pilarians, because your health (and welfare) is our utmost concern and priority, we will follow the health protocols and advisories of the IATF and your support and cooperation will be much needed on this. Meanwhile, for your advancement, please try to keep busy by reading a lot, review past lessons or take the initiative to have advance lessons. Engage yourselves in worthwhile activities, develop new but positive habits and hobbies and for some of you, for goodness’ sake, please improve your handwriting skills, alongside other skills (Reading Comprehension skills, Language/Grammar skills, Math skills) that you may be poor in. With regular practice, you can achieve it. Surely, there are lots of things that you can do to learn during this pandemic crisis. There should be no room for laziness (and lazybones), but there are many and bigger rooms for improvement. Counteract boredom that might already be lurking at your doorstep. Do something… act now! Continue to discover your potential limits. After all, learning should be a continuing process, remember?

Once again, I would like to reiterate that our on-line pre registration is on June 1-30, but the school can also accommodate walk-in enrollees. if they so desire. So for those of you who intend to enroll in OLPA for the school year 2020-2021, please stand up and be counted. We are head counting how many are intending to come back and how many are not returning, as we are in the process of making different self-learning kits and lessons/worksheets. I will certainly appreciate it if you will send me your SINCERE INTENTION in this regard.

Thank you for your unwavering support and cooperation. Keep safe. God bless us all.
