Today in ICT History: On March 29, 1994, Benjamin Tan established the Philippines’ first connection to the Internet at a network center in Makati City.

On the 30th anniversary of the Internet in the Philippines, let us look back at the progress that this transformative technology has brought to our lives and has allowed Filipinos to reap the benefits of the digital economy.

As we embark on shaping a Bagong Pilipinas, we urge everyone to join us in co-creating a Bayang Digital paved by the Internet, one where we harness connectivity and frontier technologies to enable a citizen-centric government, bridge the digital divide, and empower Filipinos online.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden demise of our pioneer ICTC Director Mely Rubico-Luya. She will be greatly missed. Our most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Ma’am Mely.

Thank you, Ma'am Mely ❤️❤️❤️

Happy National ICT Month!

Proclamation No. 1521, series of 2008, declared the month of June 2008 and every year thereafter as "NATIONAL INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (ICT) MONTH". The event calls for the recognition of the vital role of ICT in nation-building.

SPARK your interest and start conversations that would benefit the national digital transformation agenda;
STRENGTHEN your support for efforts and reforms in key areas of ICT governance; and
SUSTAIN your will for better Philippine ICT and ensure that you, the next generations of ICT vanguards, have the proper and knowledge and capacity to follow through on the advance of the Philippine Digital Agenda.
