Nalvo ES Alumni Advance Homecoming Plans, Finalize Key Decisions in Second Meeting
Alumni of Nalvo Elementary School (NES) gathered at the school’s covered court on May 1, 2026, for their second alumni meeting, marking another significant step toward the much-anticipated Grand Alumni Homecoming later this year.
The meeting, which began at 2:00 p.m., was facilitated by Mr. Roel D. Dait and opened with a prayer led by Mrs. Rowena D. Yburan. NES Head Teacher III, Mrs. Nora S. Belisario, warmly welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of unity and active participation among alumni.
One of the major highlights of the meeting was the discussion on registration fees. While an initial proposal suggested a Php5,000 contribution per batch, the body leaned toward a more inclusive approach. It was agreed that a Php200 registration fee per alumnus would be encouraged to maximize participation. Each batch was also allotted 200 raffle tickets as part of the fundraising efforts for the homecoming event.
The group officially set December 19, 2026, as the date for the Grand Alumni Homecoming. Plans for the celebration continue to take shape, with proposed activities such as a float parade (voluntary) and an “instant popularity contest” to engage participants.
Leadership adjustments were also made during the meeting. With Mr. Dait no longer stationed at the school, the position of Acting Treasurer was reassigned to Mrs. Frelyn Jaravata upon recommendation and approval by the body.
Creative preparations are likewise underway. The official alumni logo was presented by Mrs. Elizabeth Bobis, Ms. Maricel Antolin, and Mr. Jayson Torida, with suggestions for enhancement raised by attendees. The logo is set to be formally unveiled during the homecoming program. Additionally, batches will wear designated t-shirt colors during the parade. The final selection of colors will be determined through a drawing of lots in the next meeting.
In line with strengthening alumni engagement, a unifying theme was proposed and agreed upon: “Lagip ken Inniliw Umok a Naggapuan,” which reflects the spirit of returning to one’s roots with cherished memories and longing.
To ensure strong attendance, “alumni mapping” activities will be conducted across the barangay. Assignments were given to alumni volunteers to identify and reach out to former learners and graduates in both the northern and southern areas. Promotional efforts will also include the installation of posters in key locations such as the barangay entrance, Banggoy, and the barangay plaza.
The meeting also recognized generous donors for the raffle draw prizes, including a washing machine, stand fan, rice cooker, and other appliances, contributed by alumni and school stakeholders.
The distribution of raffle tickets was facilitated by Alumni Coordinator Mrs. Fannidel G. Cannaoay and Mrs. Yburan, signaling the start of active fundraising initiatives.
The body agreed to hold the next alumni meeting on September 5, 2026, to finalize remaining plans and activities. The meeting concluded at 3:30 p.m. with closing remarks from Acting Alumni President Engr. Dareen Guillermo who also sponsored the snacks.
As preparations continue, the NES Alumni Association calls on all former learners, graduates to take part in this milestone event—an opportunity to reconnect, celebrate shared memories, and give back to their beloved alma mater.
