𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 | 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧 𝐎𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬

Sitting by my desk, surrounded by paperwork and a screen in front of me, as I try to succumb to the thought of computers and sciences being my life. Then, my mind lingered on a passing thought.

A knock rang in my ears as I heard my old friend. Passion.

To live a life is to enjoy it, but amid the desire to enjoy, survival slithers its way to ruin the desires and to replace it with plain compliance with an ugly truth this world holds: that passion rarely has a home in this society. Ink was replaced by numbers, papers with calculators, literature with sciences.

The knock that rang in my ears was my old friend, my passion for writing. Purely writing. Being able to tell stories through words that bleed within your soul, being able to show emotions in ways science never could, and being able to simply express humanity through literature.

The reason practicality is mostly chosen is deeply economical: money. Creativity was never rewarded with money; sciences do. Even Vincent Van Gogh only had one painting sold when he was still alive despite the arts he created. I can only laugh at the parallelism with creative people then and creative people now, how those things almost never changed.

Maybe opportunities were added. You could choose a program in college that supports your creativity, but what happens after that? You end up still working with a computer practically swallowing your vision. That's exactly why, nowadays, the phrase 'Hindi ka mapapakain ng passion na 'yan' is that famous.

Because creation was overlooked just because discovery and reason seemed more fulfilling.

I stood up and looked out my window, seeing the youngest version of myself scrambling through random illustrations and attempting to write a gut-wrenching story out of it. I looked back, x and y seemed more familiar to me now. A question arose: do I love what I chose?

To live a life is to enjoy it: I do. I enjoy reasoning, I enjoy solving random letters out of nowhere, I love what I do. But if things were different and this world was equal, maybe my life would be different.

Are they really meant to be separated?
The things that make us stay alive and the things that make us want to live?

The knock I heard earlier brought a realization to me. Maybe creation and reason can coexist. Maybe literature can coexist with numbers, because even if society always begs to differ, our life shall never be defined by it.

I sat down again by my desk, taking out my pen and started writing again. All while listening to a science video about how Heisenberg discovered Quantum Mechanics.

I am the living proof of an already existing yet overlooked truth that passion may be an old friend, but it can return in a new one. It never disappears—it just changes.

Today, August 21, the nation observes Ninoy Aquino Day, honoring the life, sacrifice, and martyrdom of former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., whose legendary words, "𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙙𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧," continue to ignite the spirit of patriotism across generations.

Aquino’s unwavering devotion to truth and freedom served as a major catalyst in restoring Philippine democracy. His legacy serves as an enduring reminder to every citizen—especially the youth—that standing up for justice and defending democratic values requires courage, integrity, and relentless dedication to the truth.

Students of Pulong Buhangin National Highschool gathered at the Junior High School Covered Court on August 12 for a spiritual and religious outreach program led by visiting preachers from the United States and Germany.

‎The session emphasized core Christian beliefs, focusing on salvation, repentance, and forgiveness.
‎
‎Speakers delivered heartfelt messages about faith and the teachings of Jesus, which resonated deeply with the audience.
‎
‎Throughout the program, the preachers encouraged students to reflect on challenges faced by today’s youth, including bullying and early or premarital sexual activity.
‎
‎They urged the participants to strengthen their relationship with God as a guiding path in overcoming these issues.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | The Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) held a 𝙈𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘿𝙚 𝘼𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 on February 2, 2026, at the PBNHS Multi-Purpose Hall, serving as the final platform for candidates to present their leadership agendas, advocacies, and proposed programs ahead of the SSLG elections scheduled on February 3–4.

During the program, candidates from the 4WARD and LAYAG Partylist, along with the independent aspirants, delivered notable statements that highlighted their vision for leadership and their commitment to serving the student body for School Year 2026–2027.

The event aimed to provide Pulonians with a clearer understanding of the candidates’ platforms and proposed initiatives.

The program concluded with a call for students to vote wisely and choose leaders who will genuinely represent and uphold the welfare of the school community.
