During the Great Depression in 1930, the institution confronted one of the world’s most severe economic recessions through the unyielding determination and courage of its students and faculty. Following the Japanese occupation during World War II, the institute was forced to close, but post-war rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts allowed it to resume operations. Its corporate papers were reconstituted after liberation, permits to conduct classes were issued, and official government recognition was granted on March 4, 1946, with an amendment to the Articles of Incorporation extending its term of existence for another fifty years. Later, the demise of its president and two board members, coupled with super typhoons that devastated the province in the 1970s and 1980s, severely affected the institute’s stability. During this period, operations relied almost entirely on tuition fees, and enrollment figures fell due to increased competition from local barangay high schools offering free secondary education. This downward trend was temporarily reversed when the school leadership took advantage of early 1990s government subsidy programs for private schools—particularly the Government Assistance to Private Education (GASTPE), the Tuition Fee Supplement (TFS), and the Education Service Contracting (ESC) programs. Recognizing the institute’s valuable contributions, the Philippine government provided tuition fee supplements and established a high school textbook assistance fund under the Secondary Education Development Program (SEDP). Moreover, the institute has regularly received educational books and materials from the Asia Foundation and generous alumni. To date, the institute has produced countless graduates who have attained national and international prestige in their chosen fields. By streamlining its functions, encouraging innovation and creativity in its course offerings, and developing its technological and physical infrastructure, Malindig Institute Foundation Inc. aims to meet the demands of changing times and establish itself as one of the best institutions in the region—and eventually, the world. Over the years, the institute has evolved into a quality institution for secondary education, consistently producing graduates of good moral character, personal discipline, civic consciousness, vocational efficiency, and academic excellence. The honor distributed to its current President and Directress in 1999 as the “Outstanding Mother Achiever of the Year” in the field of education further underscores the school's commitment to quality education. On January 27, 2009, the Malindig Institute was elevated to an educational foundation by the Securities and Exchange Commission, making it eligible for educational grants to support its ongoing quest for academic excellence. In 2015, the Department of Education granted the institution permission to operate a Senior High School offering the General Academic Strand along with Technical-Vocational courses in Technical Drafting and Illustration, Computer Hardware Servicing NCII, and Electronic Products Assembly and Servicing NCII. In the 2018–2019 school year, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) authorized Malindig Institute Foundation Inc. to offer a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management with specializations in Cruise Ship Management and Hotel Resort Management. Additional Senior High School strands, including Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) and Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM), were approved by the Department of Education in 2020. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the institute continued to expand its educational offerings; in 2021, it began offering a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand for Senior High School following DepEd approval. As the institute celebrated its centennial last September 21, 2022, it reaffirmed its commitment to further enhancing its academic programs and modernizing its facilities to provide better education. The institution remains steadfast in its constant search for improved faculty and facilities, reinforcing its three levels of education and continuing to serve as a link for peace, love, and harmony among its stakeholders. has been under the guidance and supervision of the Lassalian Supervised School Office (LASSO).
