EWCA Student Body Song – AY 2025–2026

The students of Excellent Wisdom Christian Academy come together in one voice, lifting a song that reflects a year of growth, faith, and Godly character.

More than just a performance, this song is a declaration—of lives shaped by truth, hearts committed to Christ, and a generation ready to expand their reach.

As they sing, they echo the call to be an example in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity—bringing honor and glory to God in all they do.

EWCA Student Body AY 2025-26 sings Fair EWCA. The school anthem!

FAIR EWCA

Fair Excellent Wisdom Christian Academy
We hail thy red, blue and golden flag,
Ten thousand youthful voices sing to Thee
And God’s blessing and vision lead.
With humble resolve we’ll conquer all
Through the night, through din, through storm.

Our tough foes will work till dim
But calm rising we will be
For just cause we’ll march
Our victory’s assured.

Fair Excellent Wisdom Christian Academy
We are called to be gracious and bright
As your children bid farewell the lessons they bring
Through ages they pass Godly excellence within
With greatness of thought and patience to bear
We take stock with braveness to live and win.

Errors may assail us
But together we shall fight
We’ll bear the love of Christ
And be the herald of hope and light.

Fair Excellent, Fair Excellent

Angel Lukban, now in Grade 9, has faithfully maintained her distinction as Student of the Year since joining EWCA in Grade 2.

Through the years, we have witnessed her grow—not only into an excellent student, but into a beautiful, intelligent, and well-grounded young lady. Her journey is marked by consistency and excellence: topping standardized tests, faithfully completing her requirements, and excelling in competitions across academics, music, and the arts.

Yet beyond her achievements, what truly sets Angel apart is her spirit. She has been a joy to work with—as a classmate, a student, and a daughter—demonstrating humility, diligence, and a heart that honors God.

In her speech, Angel beautifully captured her journey by comparing it to a painting made up of many colors—each representing the challenges, victories, and lessons that shaped her this year. It is a powerful reminder that growth is not defined by a single moment, but by the whole picture God is painting in our lives.

Indeed, Angel Lukban’s life reflects what it means to expand one’s reach—not only in achievement, but in character.

Angel’s full speech

Good day to our respected Directress, Mrs. Mercado, our Principal, Sir Frank, our teachers Ma’am Cora and Sir Philip, dear parents, and my fellow students.

As I was thinking about writing this speech, I asked myself, “What vividly describes my experience this year?”

At first, it wasn’t all too clear—because everything happened so fast.

But when I began to think like an artist, I asked: was it cadmium red—full of challenges and pressure?
Or electric blue—when I felt excited to compete in front of the crowd at NSC?
Or cadmium yellow—bright like the day itself, when God began to show me why I experienced these things this year?

And I realized… it was all of them.

This year was not just one color—it was a painting.

I am deeply honored and grateful to stand before you today as the Student of the Year for Level 9. This recognition is not just my achievement—it is the result of the guidance of my teachers, the support of my family, and the grace of God who strengthens me every day.

Our theme, “Expanding Our Reach,” reminds us that growth is not only about achieving more, but about becoming more—more disciplined, more courageous, and more willing to serve others. It challenges us to step beyond our comfort zones, to aim higher, and to use our talents not only for ourselves but to make a positive impact on others.

This school year has taught me that success is not instant. It requires perseverance, focus, and faith. There were challenges along the way, but each one became an opportunity to learn, improve, and trust God’s plan. As it says in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This verse has been my anchor, reminding me that with God, nothing is impossible.

One of the most meaningful experiences for me this year was joining the NSC.

I remember standing there as the results were being announced. The room felt alive—bright, electric, filled with energy as names were called one by one. In that moment, it felt like everything was glowing.

And then… my name was not called.

In an instant, the noise faded. The brightness dimmed. It felt like everything turned gray. I stood there holding all the effort, all the preparation, all the hope—and nothing to show for it.

But later, I began to see it differently.

That “gray” moment was not empty—it was where God was working the most.

Through that experience, He painted my life with discipline when no one was watching, courage when I felt small, and humility when things did not go my way. He taught me to give my best not for applause, but for Him.

The stage may not have called my name—but that experience called me to grow.

And I realized: sometimes, the brightest victories are not the ones everyone sees, but the ones that change who we are.

That is what it means to expand our reach—not just in results, but in character.

To my fellow students, let us continue to expand our reach—not just in academics, but in kindness, leadership, and purpose. Let us inspire others through our actions and strive to be a light wherever we go.

To our teachers, especially Ma’am Cora and Sir Philip, thank you for your patience, dedication, and for believing in us. To our school leaders, Sir Frank and Mrs. Mercado, thank you for your vision and commitment to shaping our future.

And to my family, especially to my Mom, thank you for your constant support, love, and encouragement. This achievement is as much yours as it is mine.

Once again, thank you for this honor. May we all continue to grow, reach further, and fulfill the purpose God has for each of us.

Thank you and God bless us all.

Luke’s Grade 8 journey has been full and remarkable.

This year, he competed at the School of Tomorrow National Student Convention, making the most of his time and experience. He also placed in the wall climbing competition—a testament to both his strength and determination.

On top of that, he was invited to take the Ministry of Education Singapore Secondary Scholarship exams—an opportunity that reflects his growing excellence.

In his speech, Luke shares these experiences vividly, reminding us what it means to grow, persevere, and expand our reach.

Luke’s full speech

Good evening, everyone.

I am truly grateful and honored to be named Student of the Year. My name is Luke S. Lim from Grade 8, The Challengers.

First, I give all the glory to God. As it says in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

This year was not easy—especially in Filipino—but through Proverbs 3:5–6, I learned to trust in the Lord with all my heart and not rely only on my own understanding.

Filipino was a challenge for me—it is a more polysyllabic language, which means the words are often longer. For example, instead of just saying “love,” you say “minamahal,” or instead of “mom,” you say “nanay.” And I’m a person of few words.

But through that, God gave me the strength to keep going, even when I felt tired or unsure.

This year, I was also given the opportunity to take the Ministry of Education Singapore scholarship Sec 2 exams. In the process of applying, I had to look back on my academic journey and write it like a book—and clearly see who I have become.

And that made me realize something.

Life is like opening a book.

At first, we only see one page—our struggles, our limits, our questions.

But as we keep going, we begin to turn the page.

And as we do, our reach expands.

We grow.
We learn.
We begin to see that God is writing a story bigger than what we first imagined.

Sometimes, we don’t fully understand the chapter we are in—but we can trust the Author.

I want to thank our admin, teachers, my family, and my friends for being part of my story.

This award is not only written in the pages of my life’s work, it’s also shared in the pages of all of yours.

So I leave you with this: are we getting overwhelmed by the “polysyllabic” nature of life—or are we learning to trust God, who understands it all?

Maybe it’s about learning to trust Him, turning the page, and letting our reach grow a little more each day.

The Bible reminds us in Isaiah 41:10:
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Thank you, and God bless.

EWCA’s Grade 5 Student of the Year Caleb even practiced his speech while not feeling well—but that didn’t stop him from standing on stage at Friday’s Awards Night.

Through his story, and the example of William Carey, he reminded us what it means to persevere—even when the answers don’t come right away.

Caleb’s full speech

Good evening to our ever-loving Admin Mrs. Cecille Mercado and supportive Principal Mr. Edsel Mercado Jr., dear guests, parents, guardians, teachers, classmates, and friends!

I’m Caleb Matthew Icuspit, and it is my privilege and honor to deliver this speech tonight as the Grade 5, Challengers Student of the Year.

It is truly an honor to stand before you. I received this award not because of my own strength, but because of God’s grace in my life. Praise be to God.

The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV):

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

You know, at EWCA, a big part of our day is spent working on our PACEs—and while they may look like simple schoolwork, they actually teach us focus, discipline, and mastery, one goal at a time.

One of the last PACEs I surrendered to Ma’am Cora this school year was Math 1080.

It was a tough nut to crack.

And it reminded me of something.

There are moments in life that feel like Math.

It becomes a puzzle.

Sometimes, it feels like there’s no answer…
or maybe we blame the Score Key…
or maybe we just don’t understand—and feel like quitting.

There are times when it gets so difficult that we start to wonder,
“Why am I doing this?”

But we keep trying.

And then—after trying again and again—
the answer finally comes.

And we realize…

The right answer was there all along.

In the same way, God is an accurate God.

When He gave us His Word, He made no mistakes.
He is always the same.

And when He wrote the plan for our lives—it is sure, complete, and right.

Even the number of our hairs, He knows.

And the way to God is clear—

Jesus is the only way.

Not one of many ways—
but the only way.

And that reminds me of something I’ve learned in our PACEs:

There is a right answer.

Truth is not many—it is one.

Our PACEs are not just training us to be excellent in academics—
they are training our minds to understand the heart of God.

Even the stories inside them…

Like Willing Willie—based on William Carey, a missionary who chose to obey God, even when it was difficult.

He believed this:

“Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God.”

And I learned this:

Obedience is not forced.

It is an intelligent surrender—
a choice to trust God because He is always right.

And as a Grade 5 student,

I can say—this is how far God has brought me.

Through these small pages,
these daily goals,
and even the tough challenges—

God is not just teaching me lessons.

He is shaping my life.

Before I end, I want to thank my teachers and our school family:

Ma’am Cora, Sir Philip, Ma’am Hazel, and Ma’am Mitz—thank you for guiding, correcting, and helping me grow. Your love for God has reflected in your love for me.

This award may have my name on it, but it is really a testimony of what God can do through us.

All glory belongs to Him.

Thank you, and blessed evening.

Luke very articulately shares his story—a testimony of patience, purpose, and obedience to his parents’ instruction while pursuing his goals.

Luke’s full speech

Good day po to our teachers, parents, and my fellow students.

First of all, I’d like to thank God. I’d also like to thank Excellent Wisdom Christian Academy, our loving administrator Mrs. Cecille Mercado, our ever-caring teachers Ma’am Patricia Marasigan and Ma’am Nida Lopez de Leon, and our supportive Principal Sir Frank. And to my parents—without you, I wouldn’t be here conveying this speech.

I’m Luke Tolentino, and I want to tell you a story… my story this year.

At the start, I didn’t think I would be standing here. I was just doing my work, trying my best, and sometimes getting things wrong—especially in Math. There were days I wanted to rush… or even give up.
But in EWCA, we are taught to apply Excellent Wisdom—applying divine thinking, God’s way of thinking, in every situation we face.

But here’s what I learned.

If you rush, you make more mistakes.
If you quit, you don’t grow.

So I chose to take it one step at a time—because Excellent Wisdom is the wisdom that comes from God and His Word.

And I wasn’t alone.

Our teachers, admin, and principal kept reminding us—week after week—
“Take your time. Do it right. Do your best. Honor God.”

That is the wisdom of step by step.

So I checked my work, corrected my mistakes, and tried again.
And little by little… I improved.

Then came a turning point.

This year, God gave me the opportunity to grow and step up.

Not to compete—but to become better than I was before.

Our theme is “Expanding Our Reach.” In Joshua 1:3, God promises that every step we take for Him matters.

Expanding our reach is simple:

Do your work right.
Help others.
Do what is right—even when no one is watching.

Step by step… your reach grows.

To my fellow students, you don’t need to be the smartest. You need to be faithful. Take the next step God is giving you.

Because when you do, God will take you further than you expect.

This award is not just mine. It belongs to God, my ever-caring teachers, our supportive principal, my parents, and my classmates.

And let me leave you with this—

Don’t wait for a big moment to make a difference.
Take the step God is giving you today…
and let Him expand your reach tomorrow.

Thank you po, and God bless us all.

Marcus Diesto shows more than excellence—he shows character.

As this year’s Student of the Year Level 3, Marcus didn’t just share achievements—he shared his journey.

He spoke about moments when God taught him to wait, to be humble, and to allow others to shine. In a world that often chases recognition, Marcus reminded us that true success is not found in the spotlight, but in obedience and faithfulness.

“Will I still be happy if I did my best—even without the award?”

His answer was powerful: yes.

Because for Marcus, the goal was never just the award—but the character God is building in him.

📖 “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” — Galatians 6:9

A testimony that inspires every student:
Do your best. Trust God. Let Him be the Author of your promotion.

Marcus’s full speech

Good afternoon to our dear guests, administration, teachers, parents, and fellow students.

I am truly grateful and honored to stand before you today. Being chosen as Student of the Year is a great blessing, and I give all the glory to God. Without Him, I would not have the strength, wisdom, or ability to do my best each day.

I would like to thank my parents for their love, support, and guidance. Thank you for encouraging me, helping me study, and always believing in me. To my teachers, thank you for your patience and for teaching us not only academics, but also how to grow in character.

To my classmates and friends, thank you for making this journey meaningful and for walking alongside me.

You know, I initially prepared a short speech. But in EWCA, we don’t take speeches lightly—because what makes them meaningful is when we share what God has done in our lives.

As I look back on this year, I realize that my journey was not always about being in the spotlight. There were moments when God was teaching me to wait… to be humble… and to allow others to shine.

And I asked myself this question:
Will I still be happy if I did my best—but did not receive an award?

And the answer is yes.

Because God showed me that doing well is already success in His eyes. The award is not the goal—the character being built is the greater reward.

The Bible says in Galatians 6:9, “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

In a world focused on recognition, God reminded me that He is the Author of promotion. And sometimes, the greatest growth happens quietly—when we obey, when we persevere, and when we give our best even if no one is watching.

This award is not just for me—it belongs to everyone who helped me, supported me, and prayed for me along the way.

Moving forward, I commit to continue doing my best, to obey God, to respect others, and to work hard—not for recognition, but for His glory.

Because in the end, what matters most is not the applause of people, but the approval of God.

Thank you very much, and may God bless us all.

Mackenzie, Level 2 Student of the Year, shares a powerful message on trusting God to direct our steps.

—-

Mackenzie’s full speech

Good day everyone!

My name is Mackenzie Jewel E. Oliver from Level 2, and it is truly a joyful privilege to stand before you today as this year’s Student of the Year of Excellent Wisdom Christian Academy.

Our theme, “Expanding Our Reach,” reminds me of a very important truth: growth is not just about getting older—it is about becoming more like Christ in our character, our choices, and our courage. Even as a young student, I am learning that every lesson, every challenge, and every opportunity is a step God uses to help me grow stronger, wiser, and more faithful.

Sometimes I may feel small, but I am reminded that God delights in using small beginnings for great purposes. Like a young hero in training, I am learning day by day to be brave when things are hard, to be kind when it matters most, and to do my best in everything—because we are taught to do all things for the Lord.

I would like to sincerely thank my teachers, especially Ma’am Tricia and Teacher Lida, for your faithful guidance. You do not only teach us lessons from books, but you also help shape our character. Thank you for your patience, your encouragement, and for showing us what it means to learn with joy and diligence.

I would also like to thank our School Administrator, Ma’am Cecil Mercado, and our Principal, Sir Frank Mercado, for your leadership. Because of your vision and dedication, our school is not just a place of learning, but a place where we are trained to live with purpose, guided by Biblical principles, and prepared to make a difference.

To my parents, thank you for your constant love, support, and prayers. You are God’s instruments in my life, helping me grow, guiding me in the right way, and teaching me to trust the Lord in all that I do.

Most of all, I thank God, who is the source of all wisdom, strength, and success. In Joshua 1:3, it says, “I will give you every place where you set your foot.” This reminds me that when we walk in obedience and faith, God Himself directs our steps and expands our opportunities. True success is not just reaching our dreams, but fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives.

To all my fellow students, let us remember: we are not too young to live for God. We can choose to be diligent in our studies, kind in our actions, and faithful in our responsibilities. Let us continue to help one another, encourage one another, and strive to grow—not just in knowledge, but in wisdom and character.

As we move forward, let us keep expanding our reach—reaching higher in our goals, deeper in our faith, and wider in our impact for God’s glory.

Thank you very much, and congratulations to all of us!
