BASAHIN: Inanunsiyo ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) ngayong Biyernes, Hulyo 1, na inaprubahan na ni President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang pagpapalawig ng libreng sakay sa mga EDSA Carousel bus hanggang Disyembre 2022, gayundin ang libreng sakay sa MRT-3, LRT-2 , at PNR para sa mga mag-aaral kapag nagpatuloy na ang face-to-face classes sa Agosto.

Ayon sa DOTr, inirekomenda ng kagawaran ang pagpapatuloy ng programa dahil ang pondo sa ilalim ng General Appropriations Act of 2022 ay kaya pa ring magpatupad ng libreng sakay sa ilalim ng Service Contracting Program.

Samantala, ang libreng sakay ay magiging libre din sa mga modern jeepney tulad ng rutang Lagro-Quezon Memorial Circle hanggang sa katapusan ng Hulyo bilang tugon sa hinaing ng mga pasahero kasunod ng pagkansela ng libreng sakay ng bus sa rutang Montalban-Quezon Ave.

P741 billion to be spent for Luzon, Mindanao railway projects from 2021 to 2025
A total of P741.4 billion in capital expenditures (capex) is being set aside by the transport department for the development of multiple railway projects in Mainland Luzon and Mindanao
The capex spending program is expected to forward the country's major rail projects, which has a combined project cost of P1.669 trillion(Excluding PPP) as follows:
