IT’S A WRAP! 🎉

Finally, On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, We formally ended the student coordinating council month-long celebration with the theme: Ignacian Marian face the challenges of the time with a compassionate heart, inspiring talents, and life saving intellects. We would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for being with us all throughout this big event. We offer our success to you, our dear Marians, as we wouldn’t make it without you! We hope you bring with you all the knowledge you gained and may you continue showcasing those beautiful wings.

After all, we must always remember that all challenges are what makes life interesting and overcoming them is what makes a meaningful life.

In the season and time of sparkle and everlasting light, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ as more than a Christian holiday or Christian festival. It is more than an occasion to decorate our houses. It is an opportunity to pause and give thanks for the love, hope and joy found in Jesus – our Saviour and friend.

May you be always blessed with Jesus's blessings. Warm wishes on Christmas. May this Christmas turn out to be the most joyous occasion of your life, and God bless you! The joy of Jesus' love, the comfort of His presence, and the strength of His faith be with you this Christmas and always.

On the first week of December 2022, the Saint Mary's College of Catbalogan, Inc. extended a hand to our fellow Catbaloganons by hosting the Legacy of Goerge Ty "PAGTITIPON", A food augmentation program, sponsored by the Tanging Yaman Foundation and spearheaded by the School President, S. Ma. Adelaida C. Huiso, RVM, and the Campus Ministry Coordinator, S. Jemaima Estorque, RVM.

The Saint Mary's faculty members, together with the Supreme Student Council, knocked on the door of an estimated 100 families in the chosen barangays (Poblacion 3, Brgy. Bunuanan, Brgy. Canlapwas, Brgy. Mercedes, and Brgy. Maulong).

This program intends to give something made from the heart. We would like to extend our biggest gratitude to the Tanging Yaman Foundation for making this month joyful and for uplifting the hope that brought smiles to the faces of each family this Christmas.

In education, English as the universal language, gives all subjects from around the world uniformity of terms as it is used as a medium of instruction. It is inevitable to encounter the need or use for English in our daily life especially at school or in our workplace. But that doesn't mean everybody find speaking or using English easy, especially for countries that don't use English as their first language.

Despite the Philippines being rated as one of the Asian countries who are best in using English as a second language, many Filipinos are still struggling with grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and etc. Thus, to address this issue and help the students who struggle with the subject, St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan (Inc.) launched an English Enhancement Program for Senior High School Department headed by Madam Vevien Abarratigue together with the help of the chosen Anglophile Marians.

The purpose of the English Enhancement Program is to provide interactive, student-centered English basic lessons to equip learners with the basic knowledge in English.

We encourage all SHS students who wish to deepen their English skills to be part of this amazing journey!

Is math hard to understand for you? Do you struggle with solving equations and computations? Do you often listen to the teacher as they are solving a practice question on the board and all of a sudden your mind goes blank and you can't understand a word they're saying? Then let us help you!

Earlier today, the 9th of December 2022 around 3pm, at the SMCC FUNCTION ROOM. Sir Joebert Tizon and the mathematician students of Saint Mary's College of Catbalogan City, conducted a meeting about a program called "Mathematics Enhancement and Enrichment Program", that would help those students who are struggling and enhance the knowledge of those who are already good with mathematics.

Today, in the Catholic Church, we celebrate one of the great solemnities associated with the Blessed Virgin Mary – the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, that Mary was from the very beginning without the stain of original sin, a consequence of the fall of Adam and Eve. This doctrine was declared dogmatic on December 8, 1854, by Blessed Pope Pius IX through an ex-cathedra statement.

This feast shows us God’s plan fulfilled in Mary and provides an example to us all. God desires that we, too, be immaculate. With Mary’s intercession and motherly guidance, we can follow her example. With God’s grace, we can avoid sin and be holy.

As we ponder the Immaculate Conception, we gather together in various places across the world to pray, renew our vows, and celebrate Mary, the first disciple, and her “YES” to God. We wish you and your loved ones are blessed by Mother Mary. May Mother Mary always bless you and grant you all your wishes!
