Esteemed evaluators, together with selected SSC officers serving as witnesses, are carefully finalizing the results to uphold fairness, transparency, and integrity throughout the selection process.

The official list of awardees will be revealed tomorrow during the 3rd Gawad Parangal, to be held at 12:30 PM at the LSPU Amphitheater.

Leadership is not merely measured by positions held, but by the lives influenced, communities empowered, and causes advanced through meaningful action. This year, the 3rd Gawad Parangal proudly welcomes two exceptional youth leaders whose work continues to create impact beyond their campuses and communities.

Representing the forefront of student leadership and advocacy, 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐄. 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐚 is a Psychology student from Cavite State University and the current Regional President of the National Union of Students of the Philippines – Southern Tagalog (NUSP-ST). Throughout her years of service, she has become a recognized voice for students and youth, championing accessible education, democratic participation, and social accountability. From serving in various student government positions to leading regional campaigns and educational discussions, Miguela has dedicated herself to strengthening youth consciousness and collective action. Her work as an organizer, speaker, and advocate reflects a leadership style rooted in service, courage, and a deep commitment to empowering young people to become active agents of change.

Joining her is 𝐑𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐂. 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚, Network Coordinator of SDSN Youth Philippines, the youth initiative of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of the Philippines Diliman with a degree in Community Development, Rafaella has built an impressive track record in grassroots organizing, sustainable development, partnership-building, and youth engagement. Through her work with universities, civil society organizations, local communities, and international development networks, she has helped create meaningful opportunities for young people to participate in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Her experience in community organizing, capacity-building, and sustainable development has allowed her to engage with young people from different backgrounds and help strengthen their participation in addressing local and global challenges, becoming a vital role of youth in shaping sustainable and inclusive solutions for the future.

Together, these remarkable speakers embody two powerful dimensions of youth leadership—advocating for the rights and welfare of students and communities, while advancing sustainable development through collaboration, innovation, and civic engagement. Their experiences serve as compelling reminders that leadership begins with purpose, grows through service, and creates lasting impact when guided by a commitment to the common good.

Ever wonder if your student ID is actually a ticket to changing the world? It turns out, the support you receive on campus is doing much more than just helping you pass your exams: it’s shaping you into a global “agent of change.”

We are featuring this research on the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) programs and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which explores how university services at Laguna State Polytechnic University are aligning with the United Nations’ global goals.

The study reveals that OSAS isn’t just about administration; it’s a vital engine for sustainability. Here’s what the research found:

• 𝘼 "𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚" 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮. Students aren't just aware of the SDGs; they are ready to contribute! The study found that students are "knowledgeable" about the purpose and timeframe of these global goals.

• 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. There is a significant link between the services you use—like scholarships, health services, and student organizations—and how you practice sustainability in real life.

• 𝘿𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙃𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙨. From showing equal respect to everyone regardless of gender or age to prioritizing quality education in their personal lives, students are already "practicing" the behaviors needed for a better world.

• 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙡𝙮 𝙍𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨. Programs like scholarships, financial assistance, and health services were rated as "Highly Available," proving that a strong support system is the foundation for student success.

Higher education institutions are crucial platforms for the SDGs. By integrating these goals into student life, universities are graduating leaders who are equipped to tackle climate change, inequality, and responsible consumption.
