The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of the Dalubhasaan ng Lunsod ng San Pablo (DLSP) strengthened its commitment to community development through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Barangay Dolores and Barangay Sta. Catalina, San Pablo City, held on September 10, 2026, at the Barangay Dolores Hall, San Pablo City, Laguna.
The MOU signing was led by the CAS College Extensionist, Maโam Jennelle T. Cabalo, DipSW, MSW (CAR), strengthening the partnership between CAS and the two barangays for meaningful community extension programs.
More than a ceremonial signing, the gathering became a meaningful opportunity to hear the testimony of the community partners and witness the impact of CAS extension initiatives at the grassroots level.
During the sharing, the community partners recalled that before the implementation of โBata Ka Man, May Batas Pa Rin,โ the community was dealing with more than 60 cases involving Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL). Managing these cases was a significant challenge for the barangay because their personnel had limited experience and expertise in handling cases involving children in conflict with the law.
Through the collaborative efforts of CAS and the community, particularly through the โBata Ka Man, May Batas Pa Rinโ initiative, the barangay experienced a remarkable improvement.
Today, the community partners shared that they have nearly zero CICL cases, with the remaining concerns primarily involving Children At Risk (CAR).
Brgy. Dolores Councilor Hon. Angeline Escorido testified.
This testimony serves as a powerful reminder that extension work is not simply about conducting activities, it is about creating interventions that respond to actual community needs and contribute to measurable change.
The MOU signing was attended by the Sangguniang Barangay of Barangay Dolores Led by their Brgy Chairman Hon. Nomar Rivera and Barangay Sta. Catalina led by their Chairman Hon Damaso Brion, together with Dr. Marc Lester Quintana, RN, Vice President for Research and Extension, the Director for Extension Dr. Carley Lagaya, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Dean Jeroze Jose A. Reyes, PC/DC faculty researchers, Research Implementing Unit Heads (RIUHs), Extensionists, and faculty members of CAS.
The MOU was formally signed by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Dean Jeroze Jose A. Reyes, JD, Hon. Nomar D. Rivera, Punong Barangay of Barangay Dolores, and Hon. Damaso Brion, Punong Barangay of Barangay Sta. Catalina.
The signing was witnessed by the Vice President for Research and Extension, the Director for Extension, and Barangay Councilors Hon. Angeline Escorido and Hon. Medelyn Hila.
This renewed partnership represents CAS's continuing commitment to bringing knowledge, expertise, and service beyond the classroom and into the communities it serves.
Through stronger partnerships, responsive extension programs, and sustained collaboration, CAS continues to turn community needs into meaningful interventions and interventions into lasting impact.
From partnership to action.
From action to transformation.
From CAS to the community. ๐ค Isang pagpapatunay na basta CAS malaCAS.
