From the halls of San Nicolas Elementary School to the grand stage of Miss Ilocos Norte, Samantha Flores carries with her a story of courage, growth, and a dream that continues to unfold.

Crowned Bb. San Nicolas 2025, Miss Samantha Flores is now set to represent the municipality of San Nicolas in Miss Ilocos Norte 2026โ€”a journey that brings her back to a place that played an important role in shaping the confident young woman she is today: San Nicolas Elementary School (SNES).

For Samantha, SNES is more than just an alma mater. It is where she learned to step forward, find her voice, and believe in herself.

During her visit to SNES today, Samantha shared how her elementary school years helped her come out of her shell and build her confidence. The school became a nurturing space where she was encouraged to explore her interests, discover her abilities, and develop the courage to share her talents with others.

Among the skills she discovered was her passion for journalism.

As a student journalist during her elementary years, Samantha learned not only how to write and tell stories but also how to observe the world around her, express her thoughts, and use her voice with purpose. Her experiences as a young journalist became part of the foundation that helped her grow into the articulate and confident woman she is today.

Years after walking through the halls of SNES as a learner, Samantha now returns as an alumna and a role model for the young learners who are still discovering their own strengths and dreams.

During her visit, she also shared her belief that the young learners of SNES can reach their full potentialโ€”a message made even more meaningful by the fact that she, too, once sat in these classrooms, discovering the talents and abilities that would eventually help shape her future.

Her story is a beautiful reminder that confidence can begin with a single opportunity, a supportive community, and the courage to step forward.

As Samantha steps onto a bigger stage, she carries with her not only the title of Bb. San Nicolas but also the stories, lessons, friendships, and memories that helped shape her along the way. And among the many places she represents, SNES will always be one of the places where her story began.

Now, it is our turn to stand behind her.

The San Nicolas Elementary School family warmly invites everyone to join us in supporting Miss Samantha Flores as she represents San Nicolas in the Miss Ilocos Norte 2026 stage.

Padayon, Samantha! The whole SNES community is cheering for you! ๐Ÿ‘‘

Silid Aralan, Inc. (SAI) once again opens its doors to SNES learners who need additional support in their learning journey, particularly in reading, renewing a partnership that has already helped young learners find greater confidence in themselves and in their ability to learn.

Today, Mr. Arcie G. Mallari, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SAI, together with Ms. Jopie Sandoval, led the Briefing and Orientation of Parents and Co-Learners in preparation for the next implementation of the Read to Lead (R2L) Program.

The activity was supported by Dr. Orlando A. Pascua, School Principal III, whose leadership continues to champion inclusive and meaningful learning opportunities for every learner. Joining the effort is Mrs. Alyson Mae R. Anday, School R2L Focal Person, who plays an important role in coordinating the program and ensuring that its support reaches the learners who need it most.

Now on its third year at SNES, the partnership carries with it a meaningful history of support and transformation. In its previous implementations, SAI provided structured reading interventions, learning materials, and dedicated guidance to struggling readers. More than improved reading skills, learners gained something equally importantโ€”the courage to participate, the confidence to express themselves, and the belief that they are capable of learning.

SAIโ€™s support also went beyond the reading sessions. Through learning resources, snacks, gifts, prizes, and nutrition support, the organization helped create an environment where learners felt not only taught, but valued and cared for.

These efforts became visible in the learners themselves. Children who once faced difficulties in reading began taking steps forward with greater confidence and enthusiasm. Their progress served as a reminder that when learners are met with patience, encouragement, and consistent support, challenges can become opportunities for growth.

Now, the journey continues with 250 Key Stage 1 learners who will be part of the new implementation. These young learners will be guided by four co-learners who will facilitate the program and work closely with them as they develop their reading skills, confidence, and love for learning.

The program will officially begin on September 16, 2026.

For SNES and SAI, this is more than another year of intervention. It is another opportunity to reach a child who may be struggling, encourage a learner who may be losing confidence, and help a young reader discover that there is a world of possibilities waiting beyond every page.

As the doors of Read to Lead open once again, SAI and SNES reaffirm a shared commitment to ensure that no learner is left behind and every child is given the chance to find their voice through learning.

With every word learned, a door opens; with every learner supported, a brighter future begins. Through Read to Lead, SAI and SNES continue to turn struggles into strength, build confidence through reading, and empower young learners to discover their voices, reach their potential, and read today so they can lead tomorrow.

Creating a classroom where every learner feels seen, supported, and valued was at the heart of the School-Based Learning Action Cell (LAC) Session conducted on July 31, 2026 at San Nicolas Elementary School (SNES).

Focused on Inclusive Education, the session brought teachers together to deepen their understanding of how to recognize learners with Special Needs Education (SNEd) and how to thoughtfully craft Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that respond to each childโ€™s unique needs.

Leading the discussion was Mr. Eric C. Castro, SPET I and Coordinator of the Inclusive Education Program of Florentino Camaquin Integrated School. With his expertise and experience, he guided participants through practical ways of identifying learners who may need additional support and emphasized the importance of seeing beyond difficulties to recognize each learnerโ€™s potential.

More than just a technical discussion, the session became a space for reflection and sharing. Teachers exchanged experiences from their own classroomsโ€”stories of patience, small victories, and the daily realities of teaching diverse learners. Mr. Castro emphasized that inclusive education goes beyond strategies and plans. It is also about cultivating a mindset that embraces compassion, flexibility, and understanding.

Participants were also given the opportunity to collaboratively explore how IEPs can be crafted not just as documents, but as meaningful guides that help learners succeed at their own pace.

Through this LAC session, SNES reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive educationโ€”continuing to build a school culture where every learner, regardless of ability, is given the chance to grow, learn, and thrive.
