Canthium horridum is a spiny species belonging to the Rubiaceae family, commonly found in the dry seasonal forests of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. This species is characterized by its thorny branches and dense foliage, adapted to survive in harsh, dry conditions. The plant plays a vital role in the local ecosystem, providing shelter for various wildlife species. Due to habitat loss and other environmental threats, Canthium horridum has become a conservation priority. It is now preserved at the NUEBG (Northwestern University of Ecological Park & Botanic Gardens) to ensure its survival and prevent further decline.
