From 2022 to 2024, three meaningful years have passed in which Carromata Elementary School of Living Tradition and North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) stood side by side as steadfast partners. This alliance was built on a singular and noble objective: to strengthen the reading literacy of young learners. By nurturing this essential skill, both institutions are directly shaping the future of the young minds in the community.
In 2026, a renewed collaborative effort marks another significant milestone. Through the support of the NEMSUโSan Miguel NSTP Office, School Library, Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) faculty, and the Extension Services and Linkages Office, the implementation of reading literacy initiatives has been further strengthened. This initiative, known as โProject Kaalaman at Kabutihan: A Literacy and Values Development Outreach Programโ (NSTP-LTS), is carried out in collaboration with the CARE (Reading Literacy and Enhancement) Project and the ARAL Program of Carromata Elementary School of Living Tradition.
As both institutions resumed their joint services, they picked up exactly where they left off. The pause in activities was only temporary; the return to action reflects renewed vigor and commitment to addressing learning gaps that may have widened during the break. Notably, this initiative operates without external fundingโserving as a true testament to the spirit of extension volunteerism and to what can be achieved when a local school and a higher education institution share a common vision for the future of young learners.
As the partnership moves forward this year, the mission remains clear: to ensure that no child at Carromata Elementary School of Living Tradition is left behind in the journey toward literacy and values formation
