Saclauso-Sanchez National High School (LSSNHS Acro Extension) proudly celebrates the successful conduct of its validationโ€”another milestone in our journey toward excellence!

The validation was conducted by Dr. Ruby T. Llave, Education Program Supervisor from the Quality Assurance Division of DepEd Regional Office VI, together with Ms. Charlyn Estrada of SGOD DepEd Iloilo. Their expertise and guidance have greatly contributed to strengthening our commitment to quality education.

This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication of the SSNHS teachers, led by Mr. Gepee B. Molato, Head Teacher III, Mrs. Arjie T. Clavaton, Mrs. Lory Jane S. Grandeza and Mr. Romel S. Pahitamos and the members of the Technical Working Group whose leadership continues to inspire excellence in service.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mary Grace L. Castillo, Principal III of Leonora S. Salapantan National High School, and Mr. Leonil T. Salvilla, Public Schools District Supervisor of the Schools District of San Miguel for their invaluable technical assistance.

Our sincerest thanks as well to the Local Government Unit, under the leadership of Hon. Bonifacio S. Salapantan Jr., for their continued support in advancing education in our community.

Together, we move forwardโ€”stronger, committed, and driven to bring quality education to the grassroots.

The Schools Division of Iloilo formally launched the EduCARE Program on March 13, 2026, at Dumangas National High School, marking a significant milestone in the divisionโ€™s continuing efforts to strengthen learnersโ€™ rights and protection, wellness, and mental health support across public schools.

EduCAREโ€”derived from the Latin word educare, meaning to bring up, nourish, and rear, and the origin of the modern word educationโ€”serves as the umbrella program that consolidates and harmonizes all schoolโ€‘based initiatives on child protection, wellness promotion, and mental health services. The program reinforces DepEd Iloiloโ€™s commitment to nurturing not only the academic growth of learners but also their overall wellโ€‘being, resilience, and dignity.

A major highlight of the launching was the Talk Show on the Pillars of EduCARE, which emphasized the importance of multisectoral collaboration in responding to learnersโ€™ needs. Representing partner agencies were Dr. Rodney Labis of the Provincial Health Office and Mr. Don Saso, Project Development Officer of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO). Both officials presented the services and programs of their respective offices that support learner wellness, psychosocial care, and mental health interventions in response to the EduCARE framework.

They were joined by Ms. Arianne Lapidez, Nurseโ€‘inโ€‘Charge and Mental Health Focal Person, who discussed schoolโ€‘based mental health promotion, early identification, and referral mechanisms, and Ms. Jennifer Cubos, Project Development Officer and Learnersโ€™ Rights and Protection (LRP) Focal Person, who highlighted the implementation of learner protection policies, reporting pathways, and coordinated response systems under EduCARE. The panel discussion demonstrated how health, social welfare, mental health, and learner protection services converge under EduCARE to provide holistic, accessible, and responsive support for learners.

The launching activity was also graced by the presence of USWAG Ilonggo Party List Representative James โ€œJojoโ€ Ang Jr. and 4th District Representative Dr. Ferj Biron, whose attendance affirmed strong legislative support for initiatives that promote learner protection, wellness, and mental health in schools. Their presence highlighted the importance of aligning education programs with broader government and community efforts to safeguard the wellโ€‘being of children and youth.

In her message, OIC Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Ruby Therese P. Almencion expressed her sincere appreciation to all partners and stakeholders for their unwavering support to DepEd Iloilo. She emphasized the divisionโ€™s strong commitment to making schools safe, inclusive, and caring spaces, stressing that DepEd Iloilo deeply cares for its learners and that all initiatives under EduCARE are being carried out for their safety, development, and overall wellโ€‘being. Dr. Almencion reaffirmed that ensuring learner protection and wellness remains a core responsibility of the Schools Division Office.

Meanwhile, Iloilo Vice Governor Nathalie Ann Debuque, in her message of support, conveyed the Provincial Governmentโ€™s commitment to the EduCARE Program. She expressed her full support for initiatives that advance learnersโ€™ rights, wellness, and mental health, and pledged to actively lobby for increased assistance and sustained support from the Provincial Government to further strengthen schoolโ€‘based programs addressing the holistic needs of learners.

The EduCARE Program Launching concluded with expressions of appreciation and a call for sustained collaboration among schools, government agencies, and community partners, as DepEd Iloilo moves forward in institutionalizing EduCARE across schools in the division.

Through EduCARE, schools are envisioned to function not only as centers of academic learning but also as safe and nurturing spaces that promote care, resilience, and empowermentโ€”reinforcing DepEd Iloiloโ€™s identity as โ€œa Schools Division with a Tradition of Excellence.โ€
