Activity No. 2
Effects of Heat
( Smalamig making and salad/graham Making)
I. Objectives:
• Observe heat transfer of materials
• Differentiate heating process and cooling process
• Describe the special property of water
• Diagram heat transfer of system
• Differentiate exothermic and endothermic process
II. Materials:
• Ingredients of samalamig and grahams
• Plastic container
• Ice
• Freezer
• Water
• Utensil needed in food preparation
III. Procedure:
1. Prepare the samalamig and grahams based on your guide recipe
2. Observe the temperature of the two set-up.
3. Add some ice on your samalamig. Observe the behaivior of ice.
4. Separate one glass of samalamig describe the change in temperature of your samalamig every ten minutes. Repeat the procedure five times. (observe what will happen to the ice).
5. Placed your graham or salad in refrigerator within 4-5 hours.
6. Compare your grahams or salad temperature from ordinary ice?
IV. Observations: (Write on long bond paper in paragraph form)
V. Questions:
1. How does heat flows from one medium to another?
2. Why do ice floats into water? What is the advantage of this property?
3. Draw a diagram that will show heat transfer in samalamig and refrigerated grahams
4. What is the difference between endothermic and exothermic process?
5. What is the difference between calorie in terms of heat and calorie in terms of food?
VI. Reflection (reflect on the idea, insights and values gain from the activity. You may include bible verses and other related info.)
• Criteria for samalamig (prepare for 4 judges)
It must be healthy and nutrious
Presentation- 10
Taste-10
Nutritional Value-10
Uniqueness -10
Total 40
Reminders:
• Write your laboratory report on Legal size bond paper with the same format above except with the procedure(Make a schematic diagram only).
• Laboratory report must be hand written and individually. Do not copy the work of your group mates specially on the part of Reflection ( Reflection is base on personal insights and experience).
• Passing of lab report is on October 4, 2013 before 12:00 pm.
God Bless .please be guided accordingly.

Coordinate recycling with your neighbors and friends. If the local recycling depot is at some distance, make a single drop-off spot in your neighborhood, where people can bring their recyclables, then use just one car to drive them to the depot. A garage is a good place to store things until they are taken. You might have different neighbors responsible for different kinds of recyclables, such as paper, glass, metal, etc. -Nathan
