Va**ng exposes users to ni****ne addiction and toxic chemicals that can harm the lungs, heart, and brain it is not a safe alternative to smoking.
— Department of Health

In support of the government’s To***co Regulation efforts under Republic Act No. 9211, St. Paul University San Miguel stands united in raising awareness on the dangers of smoking and va**ng.

As reflected in this material, the reality is clear behind every puff is a risk to life. With 18.5% of adults affected and one life lost every 6 seconds due to tobacco-related diseases, the impact is alarming. More than numbers, it shows how smoking and va**ng damage vital organs
causing brain impairment, heart attacks, lung cancer, and digestive diseases. What may seem like a momentary escape can lead to irreversible harm.

As Paulinians, we are called to uphold Christ-centeredness, Charity, and Community by choosing what protects life and dignity. We are challenged to rise above harmful trends and become role models of discipline, awareness, and responsibility within our community.

This advocacy reflects our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals:
SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), by promoting a healthy and vape-free lifestyle;
SDG 4 (Quality Education), by strengthening awareness through informed understanding;
SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), by encouraging a safer and healthier environment;
and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by uniting as one in spreading truth and positive change.

Guided by our faith and values, let us continue to choose what is right and life-giving.

Choose health. Choose life. Say NO to ci******es and va**ng before it’s too late. Your lungs deserve better than a moment of escape.

Va**ng is not a 'safe' alternative; it exposes the lungs to toxic chemicals like formaldehyde and heavy metals that can cause irreversible lung damage."
—Dr. Lawrence Loh, Public Health Specialist

Don’t let a "moment of escape" cloud your future. While many turn to va**ng thinking it reduces anxiety, it actually creates a cycle of ni****ne dependence that can increase stress and restlessness over time. Beyond the physical harm, it affects your focus, your energy, and your overall well-being.

As Paulinians, we are called to be stewards of God’s creation and that starts with our own bodies. Our health is a gift that allows us to serve others and "let our light shine." Choosing to stay vape-free is an act of discipline, self-respect, and responsibility to the community.

Choose health. Choose life. Say NO to ci******es and va**ng before it’s too late. Your lungs deserve better than a moment of escape. ✨

18 MARCH 2026 | BACCALAUREATE MASS 2026

The Baccalaureate Mass of 2026 marked a solemn and profound moment for the graduating class of Paulinians, as they prepared to complete their academic journey. Presided over by Rev. Fr. Aidref R. Ronquillo, the Eucharistic celebration gathered the community in prayer and thanksgiving for the achievements and growth of the graduates. The Mass emphasized that true success is grounded in faith, perseverance, and trust in God’s guidance. It served as a moment of reflection, allowing graduates to recognize God’s presence throughout their journey and to carry this faith as they move forward.

As graduates prepare to step into another world, they were reminded to remain SELF-EFFACING as they celebrate their achievements, mindful of the importance of staying grounded and serving others with humility and grace. It affirmed CHRIST-CENTEREDNESS as the foundation of every Paulinian’s path while strengthening the spirit of COMMUNITY through shared gratitude and hope. Through the blessings received, graduates were reminded of the university’s CHARISM and COMMISSION to become individuals who serve with integrity and compassion. The Mass also reflected CHARITY in using one’s gifts for the good of others. This sacred gathering aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), promoting holistic formation and responsible citizenship guided by faith and moral values.

03 MARCH 2026 | ONE PAULINIAN MISSION: EMPOWERING LIVES THROUGH SOLIDARITY, SUSTAINABILITY, AND SERVICE FOR THE COMMON GOOD

The Tertiary Department of St. Paul University at San Miguel, through the Good Governance and Social Responsibility (GGSR) Team under the supervision of Mr. Jose C. Lazaro Jr., successfully conducted a community outreach program in Barangay Tartaro, San Miguel, Bulacan. The initiative gathered Paulinian students, volunteers, and community partners in a shared effort to extend service and respond to the needs of the community through coordinated and meaningful activities. The program featured five activities: Disaster Preparedness, Dengue Awareness, Clean Up Drive, Feeding Program, and Literacy and Catechism. These initiatives aimed to promote public safety, health awareness, environmental responsibility, and values formation among community members, particularly the youth.

The day began with a Clean Up Drive led by
Paulinian students to promote a healthier and more sustainable environment which served as a preventive response to the high cases of dengue recorded in the area. To safeguard participants during this physical initiative, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office lent an ambulance and medical personnel to ensure safety. Informative seminars on disaster preparedness and dengue awareness were also conducted to equip residents with practical knowledge that can help protect families and the community. The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDDRMO) facilitated the disaster preparedness session, sharing essential guidance on how households can prepare for emergencies and respond effectively during disasters. Meanwhile, a health representative delivered the dengue awareness seminar, highlighting prevention measures and the importance of maintaining a clean environment to reduce health risks.

To further extend these initiatives, student volunteers conducted a house to house information campaign throughout the barangay. Families received disaster preparedness go bags and dengue prevention kits while volunteers shared reminders on maintaining safe and healthy homes. At the school gymnasium of Tartaro Elementary School, selected grade levels participated in a feeding program together with literacy and catechism activities led by the student volunteers. Through storytelling, reading engagement, and faith formation sessions, the children were provided with a supportive learning environment while also receiving nutritious meals. This initiative reflects important Paulinian Core Values such as CHARITY, through genuine service and care for others; COMMISSION, by responding to the call to serve communities in need; COMMUNITY, as students and residents worked hand in hand for a common purpose; and CHRIST-CENTEREDNESS, seen in the catechism and values-centered formation shared with the children.

The program also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The success of this outreach program was made possible through the support and collaboration of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDDRMO), the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), the health representatives who conducted the dengue awareness seminar, the Barangay Officials of Tartaro, the faculty and staff of Tartaro Elementary School and SPUSM, generous sponsors, and the dedicated student volunteers whose shared commitment helped make this initiative meaningful and beneficial for the community.

St. Paul University at San Miguel sincerely extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, effort, and support in making this outreach program a success.

OUTREACH PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Just a friendly reminder, Paulinians!

Tomorrow, March 3, 2026, the Annual Outreach Program of St. Paul University at San Miguel will be held at Barangay Tartaro, San Miguel, Bulacan. All Paulinian Volunteers and tertiary students are expected to gather at 5:00-5:30 AM in the University Gymnasium. Attendance will be recorded accordingly.

The outreach activities include Literacy and Catechism, Disaster Preparedness Awareness, Dengue Awareness Campaign, Feeding Program, and a Community Clean-Up Drive.

This outreach reminds us that being a Paulinian goes beyond the classroom. As we conduct literacy sessions, promote health awareness, share resources, and work together in service, we help build communities that are healthier, safer, and more empowered. In our own simple but meaningful ways, we contribute to Sustainable Development and support the Sustainable Development Goals — SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Tomorrow is also an opportunity for us to truly live out the Paulinian 5Cs — to be Christ-centered in the way we serve, to respond to our Commission with courage, to strengthen Community through unity, to demonstrate Charism through responsibility and discipline, and to practice Charity through genuine compassion.

We highly encourage everyone to participate actively, serve wholeheartedly, and lead with purpose.

See you tomorrow, Paulinians.
