Voting for the SSLG Election

On July 15, 2026, the Dominic Institute of Science and Technology (DIST) held its Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) election for Grade 11 and Grade 12 students from all strands.

Students voted for their preferred candidates. After voting, each student's index finger was marked with indelible ink to confirm they had voted and to prevent duplicate voting. Teachers supervised the process to maintain order and ensure a fair election. Upon completing their ballots, students folded and placed them inside the ballot box.

The SSLG election concluded at 11:23 am.

CAMPUS NEWS — Attention, Dominicians!

The day has arrived where your choices will dictate the way forward for our school. July 8, 2026, marked the Miting de Avance, serving as the crucial second step for students to understand who our candidates are and to evaluate their eligibility to compete for the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) Council.

The event commenced this morning with the singing of the national anthem and a community prayer. Following the opening proceedings, the SSLG candidates introduced themselves to the student body.

The activity proved to be a rigorous test for the aspiring student leaders. During the open forum, teachers questioned each candidate to determine if they were truly qualified for their desired positions. Some students faced difficulty under the intense scrutiny, as faculty members prepared a wide array of challenging questions to discern who among the candidates is genuinely worthy of leadership.

A key focus of the discussion centered on the candidates' platforms. It was noted that certain campaign promises may not be easy to navigate due to the real-world issues, problems, and obstacles the council will inevitably face once in office. Because executing these platforms is no small feat, the activity highlighted that candidates must firmly stand by their word to earn the collective trust of the student body.

This event provided students across the campus with a vital opportunity to let their voices be acknowledged and to carefully place their trust in the right candidates. See you soon, Dominicians!
