The NSDAPS Community condoles with the family of Mrs. Perla R. Magculang who passed away on May 22, 2023.

Let us include in our prayers the eternal repose of her soul.

In tribute to the former School Principal, here are some highlights of her life and career:

Mrs. Perla R. Magculang has shown that even though there was no chapter in any textbooks about perseverance and passion, with these traits, she was able to overcome all obstacles that have presented themselves in her life.

Born in Cubao, Quezon City on May 6, 1950, by Concepcion Rebucas of Tagbilaran, Bohol and Paolo Rebucas of Jaro, Iloilo, Perla Jason Rebucas started her life of success in the year 1956 to 1962 when she started her elementary education in Cubao Elementary School. She entered the University of Santo Tomas for High School which she completed in 1966 with flying colors. She then started her career and passion for education by entering college at the University Of Santo Tomas College Of Education, where she took up English as her major. In 1967, she achieved the Catholic Charities Scholarship which she has been entitled up until her last year in College. After four years of perseverance, she completed her degree in Education and was awarded Magna Cum Laude in the year 1970. She then took up Developmental Reading in the summer of 1970 at the De La Salle University in Manila.
Her teaching career started as an English Literature and Composition Teacher at St. Paul College of Quezon City High School, where she also became a Lay Moderator for Youth Christian Life Community and Vice President of the Faculty Club. In 1974, she worked for a year teaching Literature and Composition for Grades 8, 9, and 10 and Filipino for Grades 6 and 10 in an International School at Dole Philippines School in Polomok, South Cotabato. She went back to Manila in 1975 and taught High School English and Religion and also became the Coordinator of the Religion Department and Chairman for the Faculty Development Program Committee and Vice President of the Faculty Club in St. Scholastica’s Academy in Marikina.

During the summer of 1976 up to the second semester of 1977, she went back to school, at the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City to take Master of Arts in Education Major in Guidance and Counseling and completed 15 units with the help of the Ateneo Foundation Scholarship for Graduate Studies. In 1979, she entered the Mother of Life Catechetical Institute and gained a Certificate of Proficiency in Guidance and Counseling and Religion in 1981. She also received the Mother of Life Scholarship for Religious Educators from Missio, Germany for her study in the institute.

In 1982, she worked at the Office of the Catechetical Ministry, Diocese of Antipolo as a Diocesan Lay Coordinator for Formation Program.

Mrs. Perla Magculang came to Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu Parochial School in 1992 as Academic Assistant and was then promoted as School Principal a year after. In her 18 years of loyal and faithful service to the institution, she has contributed so many innovations in teaching and introduced the Word of Life or living the IDEAL. She shared the goodwill through all the knowledge, experiences and achievements she gained from her passion and perseverance until she retired in May 2010. Her dedication and devotion to the ideals and objectives of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu Parochial School, her example and precepts, and her outstanding leadership have played a big part in all the school’s undertakings.
