In solidarity with the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), GADvocates wants to raise our voices to support Republic Act 9262, also known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 here in the Philippines. This important law criminalizes all forms of violence against women to empower and protect them. It's time to dispel the stigma, disseminate information, and build a community that opposes violence against women.

On October 24, 1945, the United Nations was formally established after a majority of its founding members ratified the charter settling up the world body.

There is no other global organization with the legitimacy, convening power and normative impact of the United Nations. No other global organization gives hope to so many people for a better world and can deliver the future we want. Today, the urgency for all countries to come together, to fulfill the promise of the nations united, has rarely been greater.

United Nations provides an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of United Nation and serves as a reminder that the world is our common home and through dialogue and cooperation among all, our problems could be solved.

Naglilingkod kahit mugto pa ang mata,
Pagod ma'y madama gabinlid pa rin ang saya.
Nariyan upang madagdagan ang kulang,
Inaadyang buksan ang sarang isipan.

Tungkulin niyang basagin ang iyong lagim,
Huhubugin ang diwa, siya ang salamin.
Pawis at dugo man ay bumawas sa buhay,
Matiyagang nagtuturo upang karununga’y mapanday.

Animo’y sulo ng bituin ang kaniyang liwanag,
Sa musmos na isip at puso’y siya ang hanap;
Siya ang liwayway ng pag-asang nakaabang,
Sa mahabang tahakin, siya ang ginto ng silangan.

Sa harap ng gasera’y payapang isusulat ang pagpupugay,
