The Luya Integrated School personnel actively participated in the First Term School-Based In-Service Training (INSET) through RUSH: Research UpSkilling Hour, an enriching professional development initiative focused on strengthening research competencies, knowledge, and skills.
The program formally commenced with an opening prayer and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, presented through an audio-visual presentation. This was followed by a lively roll call and attendance checking activity, which featured the different reactions of the school personnel upon realizing that the INSET had officially begun. The activity created a light and engaging atmosphere and encouraged everyone to actively participate in the opening of the training.
The program continued with the Opening Remarks delivered by the School Head, Sir Mathew Alliene D. Mendoza, who emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and the role of research in addressing educational challenges and improving school practices.
The session was facilitated by Bryan I. Ilao, whose guidance and facilitation helped ensure an organized, meaningful, and engaging learning experience for all participants.
The training featured distinguished resource speakers—Christel M. Gayacan, Remeliza M. Dela Luna, and Sir Mathew Alliene D. Mendoza—who shared valuable insights and practical knowledge on educational research. Their expertise provided the participants with opportunities to deepen their understanding of research processes, identify relevant school-based concerns, and appreciate the importance of evidence-based practices in improving teaching, learning, and school operations.
As part of the application of the concepts and strategies discussed during the sessions, the participants engaged in a workshop activity designed to allow them to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills. Through collaborative tasks, discussions, and guided activities, the school personnel were given the opportunity to develop and strengthen their research ideas based on actual needs and concerns within the school. The workshop served as a practical avenue for translating the learning from the training into potential research initiatives and actionable school-based solutions.
Through collaborative learning, meaningful discussions, knowledge-sharing, and hands-on application, RUSH: Research Upskilling Hour empowered the school personnel to become more reflective, innovative, and research-oriented members of the school community.
The First Term School-Based INSET demonstrated the commitment of Luya Integrated School to continuous professional growth, evidence-based practices, and the development of a strong culture of research and excellence. The training not only enhanced the participants’ research knowledge and skills but also encouraged them to apply what they learned in addressing actual school-based needs and improving educational practices.
